We tried the gator case but it only measures 6" high and the PA800 is 7" at the top of the display. I have bags that fit but not flight cases. I saw an SKB but it measures just under 43" long and the PA800 is a little over 43". Any ideas?

go to www.keyboardcases.com

I bought a custom case for my Pa1X Pro a few years back, right after I got the board. A little higher than most other commercial cases but each one is custom built for your specific keyboard in mind. Fits it like a glove, heavy duty, built in handles and even has built in wheels on one end so that it can be rolled.

Been very pleased with it.

I purchased a case for my kn6000 from this outfit that held up very well on a flight to North Carolina ...
The company was very accommodating ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ATA-CASE-for-TECHNICS-KN6000-SX-KN7000-KEYBOARD---New!-_W0QQitemZ150265055177QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0806301920r4252

George, have you tried to actually fit it or just compared specs?

I had my brand new Pa800 shipped to me inside a Gator GK261R ATA flight case, and it arrived in perfect condition from NY to CA.

Indeed the official internal Gator case hight is 6" and the Pa specs say 7.1", however it fits the board like a glove as the internal measures start from the flexible thick sponge layers that will easilly absorb the 1" difference.

What I can not explain is how the extarnal GK hight in the specs is 7.0" which should be shorter than the Pa, however check the pic for yourself.

Nesh,
I have the GK261R case in my store. Yes, I've taken the PA800 and put it into this case. Yes, I can force the display into the foam and make it close, but if you travel from LA, Ca. to Rome, Italy, chances are someone is going to put pressure on the top of the case and I don't believe there is enough padding to guaranty the display won't crack off.
From your picture, I can see an indentation where the top of the display pushes into the foam. Wouldn't you think that if you pushed down on the top of the case, something might break inside? I don't think there is enough padding and space.

Well, a flight to Rome is a short jurney compared to the marine travel my board is now taking from USA to Israel, however Chris from Alto Music told me they ship this board regularly inside the gator without any issues, and at least for the first leg between NY to CA he was right. I can tell you more when it arrives here in mid August.

I am using above case for the last one year.

But I still contend that a 7" tall part shouldn't be placed in a case that the specs say 5 1/2" is the biggest. You must be putting stress on the screen and if it takes a jolt, the screen will crack or even worse can happen internally.

As far as I know it fits neatly in that case. No need to apply any pressure to close the lid.
