Is there a 76-key controller . . .

. . . with synth action--not weighted keys?

Excellent unit, used to own one. However no longer produced and seems to be only rarely seen on Ebay.

Check out the CME 76 note controllers, they have a really good action, and even wirless MIDI!!! (on the new models). They cost about $699 out here (Oz) which on current exchange rates is about the same there (US)

From personal experience I would suggest you avoid anything from M-Audio.

I have an Axiom 61. The first one was a lemon, but they finally agreed to fix it if I paid shipping one way. It came back still not working. After more hassle, they sent me a new one. It is great when you have one that works. I think their quality control is lacking.

There is a reason for that

I bought an M-audio Oxygen 61 to control the Midjay. Used it for the first time last night and a note quit working. The FIRST night.
I will return it. Anyway I want to check out 76 note controllers.
I would like the facility to quickly access at least 32 sounds from the MJ. Can't play weighted keys.

If you can find a good used Roland A70, and don't mind a bit of weight, this is one of the best... The same action as the G1000/G70.

A37's action is an embarrassment (plus no aftertouch), a spongy mess, like so many inexpensive controllers. But hey, it's light (so it MUST be good, eh? ).

Check out the Kurzweil SP2 . It has its own onboard sounds plus a four-segment split capacity. I happen to have a brand new one ready to sell when I return from my week's vacation. Contact me after July 9th and we can work out a fair price. It has great semi-weighted action; not as hard as a regular piano, but much stiffer than a flimsy synth touch. It's a board I have no need for, so I'm offering it up.

Well, I never was a piano player, but even more important, I have fairly severe arthritis in my right wrist. I play 4-6 hours every night. I wouldn't last a week with a heavy action. The G70 and SD5 are even a little stiff for me, as good as they are.
Probably G70 would be the best overall action if it weren't for the pain. I'm against pain.
The Kurzweil sounds great but is probably overkill for what I need.
I'm off to shop now!

I have the CME UF70 76 key controller.. EXCELLANT action.

I use it under my T2 or PA2XPRO depending on which I am playing that week.

It has a super lightly weighted synh action similat to T2 and PA2. It is not hammer action.

Don, I use the Roland A37 and it has worked well and reliably for years and years ..... it may be worth your consideration, if you can find one.
