Was originally going to the in-laws Michigan lake home for the weekend, but decided to take those 3 days and work on new material. The next wave of songs are really exciting.

Well, I'm going to that northern Michigan lake home - for a week. We're taking in the Traverse City National Cherry Fest and the ever=popular Cedar, MI Polka Fest. No playing in church either - first time ever away from home on the 4th weekend. Hope to catch a couple bands playing this weekend though

I have a 4th BBQ gig too. Should be fun - last year they had enough food to feed an army.

Same place as every holiday; a private club. Will be outside in the afternoon with an MS 60 and inside for the evening with the B-3, grandson drummer and Sax.

Been doing the same every holiday for nearly 30 years.

Did one today at an upscale retirement community, then have one on the 5th and one on the 6th. The job on the 4th was cancelled and believe it or not, I'm glad it was. I'm gonna' prop up my feet, drink margarettas and watch the fireworks at my son's house.

Cheers,

Gary

Wouldn't that make it YOUR anniversary, as well?

Congrats, anyway...

It wasn't until my kids were married that I found out how much they HATED the fact that I missed sooooo many events ...
Making other people happy with our music may be "HOW WE ROLL", but that doesn't mean all our family members feel the same way, whether they say it or not ...
Anyway, "it is what it is" ...
Happy Fourth, everyone ...
PS ...I'm going to try to make up for some "lost" family time starting on Sunday, when we ALL (our 2, spouses, and 4 grandkids) start on an 8 day cruise to Bermuda ...

Donny ... My comment wasn't directed at you personally ... It was more in response to Fran mentioning the family events he was going to miss ... Which I am sure you have done as well during your career, as many family events are celebrated the same time WE are helping OTHERS celebrate theirs ...

In MY case, I was a full time 9 to 5er, and a 'weekend warrior', which made it tougher ...

Yeah, I noticed that too. I wonder how many other guys view their (excuse me; their wife's) anniversary that way. Does that mean that waaaaay down deep, we don't consider ourselves married at all? Lots of food for thought here. I think I'll pose the question to my wife.......maybe not. Anyway, have a good one. I'll be involved in voter registration activities for most of the day then a 'jam' at the club starting at 7pm with some high-profile b-listers promising to drop in.

Not ME ... this November we will be celebrating 10 years of happily married life - 10 out of 45 isn't too bad, it it ?!?!? ...

Actually getting married was the best thing I've ever done - second is retiring from the day job ...
Although the 45th anniversary isn't until Nov., we will be celebrating it aboard the cruise ship "Norwegian Dawn" next week with our kids and grandkids ... http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/fleet/shipInformation.html?shipCode=DAWN

chas .. the jam sounds like a great way to end the 4th .....
