I have a yamaha case for my PSR3000 and it is wearing out in less than a year - the seams are tearing out. How long do you guys/gals use your gig cases?

I've had a single custom road case that has fit my G70, G1000 and K2500 (specifically built to fit the Roland lengthwise, and the Kurzweil depth-wise) for about 15 years or so...

Mind you, it probably weighs more than your PSR3K! But my gear looks mint, the case still looks mint, and it has gone through a 90-mph car wreck without any damage to the contents (my G70). I figure that made it worth the weight all these years, alone..!

There's a false economy in buying ultra-lightweight anything, especially if you expect it to work worry free for decades...

Hi Diki,

Yea, your probably right. I have to watch the weight because of a back problem so the lighter cases are more of a necessity than a convenience. I just sold my Korg PA1X because of the weight. Liked to kill me with the thing loaded in a Gator case for gigs. My Yamaha case is canvas and I don't abuse it or my keyboard so I didn't expect it to fail within a years time.

Hammer,

I've been using the same, canvas case for nearly 20 years now, and it still looks like brand new. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the brand name, but I'll post it tomorrow when I get back from my job. I cost me about $125 back then, and I'm not sure if the same case is still available. It's lined with 1-inch thick Ethafoam and weighs next to nothing.

Thanks Diki, Donny, and Gary for the input.
I actually have a RockNRoller cart - best money I have spent in years. I will look into the cases from the web site. Darn shame things don't last like they use to.

Hey Gary, if your still around I have a question for you - do you know anyone selling a used Bose L1 system? I am thinking about upgrading my gig speaker system and would probably be ok with a used L1 system. The local GC just wants to much money for a the latest one.
