Mackie SRM 350v2

Has anyone tried the new Makie SRM350v2? Is it better than the original? The nwe v2 version is $599 and you get the old version at $399. Is the new one worth the extra $200 bucks?

I know that's the Mackie slant on it. What do the "Real" people think? The new one is manufactured in China, is the old one? Does it make a diffence? The new one is less weight but is it worth $200 dollars more?
I demoed the new one and it does sound terrific. Have not had a chance to try the original. Just want some feedback on what other folks think. Thanks Donny

The original Mackies were designed and built by RCF in Italy, Mackie then moved manufacturing to China and never changed the designed but the quality of components were lowered.

The new MAckies are much better than the older China versions.

If the question is the new or old, the new wins hands down.

If you are going to compare the new mackies with the current crop of powered speakers, it's going to be a much harder decision

I have the 450v2s. I LOVE the sound and 40 lb weight. I like the design that allows for different configurations on the floor. I've also mounted them a couple times. IMO, much better than PD, L1 and Stagepas, which I have also owned and played live with.

I have heard the Mackies are made in the same factory as Behringer. Can anyone verify this?

I'm going to be selling my FBT Jolly powered speakers (200w 8"). Will keep my FBT powered sub. Want to go to something with a 10" speaker powered. That is why I looked at the FBT and Mackie, both the same price $599. Another to consider is the "New", yet unavailable Yorkville Elite E10p http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?id=371&cat=2&type=29
Also the Traynor K1. You can link Two in stereo, Balance inputs and really compact!!!

JC why lug THREE heavy pieces ....just get a pair of 15" powered FBT/OR?....& no more sub.

I'm sorry DNJ, but coupple of 15's won't make up for the lack of a sub.
I don't go to a gig without a sub!

That depends on what type of music you play, no need to shake the earth, I dont want to lose my hearing or do my audiences,the #1 complaint I hear from people that go to weddings with DJ's and big SUBS is that the MUSIC was TOO loud....half the time they sit in the hallway not to be subjected to the torture of pounding bass!...my Roland CK100's go down to around 38 that's plenty of bass for my needs.

I do not play out anymore (hoping to start again someday when the day job and life in general lets me)The sub I have is very small and light (like the Roland KC powered sub).I am leaning toward the K1 because I can use it alone or add the sub (can mount speaker on it) or add another for stereo, options like you stated in another post.
