Hi,

I used to have the Bose 802/402/MB4 combo series II along with the Bose controller. It sounds great. However, when I switched to the Bose L1 system, I never look back. You end up paying more for the 402 system because you have to buy an amp + Bose controller. My suggestion is to buy a used pair of Bose L1 with 2 subs per side. It will sound better and easy to setup.

I also used to own EV, EAW and JBL system. They were all great but I love the Bose L1 system...simply because it is easy to transport, light, sound fantastic.

Last weekend, I attended a wedding party. The DJ guy was using 2 Bose L1 + 8 B1 sub (4 subs on each side). Man...It sounds gooddddddddddd.

Tip:

If you have an old Bose 402 speakers, you can trade in to Bose to get the new Bose 402 series II speakers at half price.

This reinforces my suggestion..."Bigger and more powerful sub woofers are better"..read the sub woofer post, before it went off topic...like I am doing now..

Oh brother..... that's hodwash. Bigger is better SOMETIMES, but almost never in a "set it up in a million smaller venues" situation. Most of the guys that play more than 1 or 2 times a week can really benifit from the reduced weight and size of a great, groundbreaking system, like the Bose.

It's simply not true that bigger is better. Nothing is that simple. Sigh ..... you guyzzzzzeee !

How much does 8 Bose subs cost?

How much does a pair of conventional subs cost?

You don't think that DJ was using eight subs for the looks, do you?

The Bose subs are $299 each and the system is at full power with 2 connected, so I'm guessing that he also used 2 addon amps ( Bose are $299 each too)
So, he has $3000 invested in bass alone. The up side is that he only has to carry teeny, tiny cabinets in and out of the job.
At my age, I'll never hoof a 75lb monster in to any room for any reason.
The more cabinets you add more than doubles the bass output. When you stack to cabinets on top of one another, you get 4 times the sound.
