SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 09:57 AM

I put a few songs recorded on the job on the SD5.
If you listen, some of the volume levels are hotter than others.
These were recorded on Zoom H2, from headphone output. Here's a direct link.

I know a song about dirt-track racing. Is that close enough?

Re: SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 12:00 PM

That's close enough.

sounds good, you got that good ole' country western sounding voice.

I can't help thinking you are always wearing a 10 gallon hat while singing

Thanks Dan. I started singing one night because the singer didn't show up and I wanted to get paid.
I'm experimenting with mics again. I have two Sennheiser E855s that are getting a little old.
That's what I used on these recordings. I also have Samson Q7, Samson R11, Shure SM 87 and SM58, Crown 311a and a few others, but I nothing I've found seems to be any better than the Sennheisers.

Re: SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 12:58 PM

hey don, have you experimented with changing the sound of the guitar part ?

Folk instead of the factory setting ?

Re: SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 01:21 PM

Dan, I have experimented a little with changing sounds on the styles. Need to do more.
I'm still looking for some styles I used to have on SD1 but haven't located too.
Thanks,
Don

Hi DonM

Real nice job! Hey, just happened to think, what ever happened to the E50 demos Hank was going to do? I'd love to hear what a 19 pound keyboard with speakers and small dimensions sounds like on the job

Re: SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 03:40 PM

I don't know about the demos from Hank, but the E50 sure sounds good live. He's filling in for me Saturday night. Maybe he'll record something then.

Don,

Enjoyed your songs. Do you use the Bose L1 1 live? If so, have you ever used it with the mic through the keyboard only (using boards fx)?

Re: SD5 Live songs - 03/27/08 09:55 PM

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Zuki, I often run the keyboard directly into the Bose. It works great. It is best to use both left and right sends into two channels on the Bose Model I. On the new Version II Bose, there is a stereo input on the T1 mixer, and I run into that when I use it.
I run everything flat on the Bose-preset 00, and do all effects and e.q. from the keyboard.
I do have a mixer set up now at the club where I work just about every night. That allows me to leave everything for Hank or whoever fills in for me to use.

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes today.

I'm beginning to think not many people really know the difference, no matter how hard we try to perfect our act.

You are a glutton for punishment my fried, but thanks!
Zuki, good luck with the Bose. You'll love it.
The stereo "thing" is way overblown. The Bose is better than stereo because every part is so distinct.

Scott, I forgot that I have some recordings of me playing Hank's E50, if that will work. I will post a few over the weekend. I borrowed it one night to check it out.
