Acoustic Image keyboard amps? - 03/20/08 05:29 AM

I am seeing more and more ads in the US about Acoustic Image amps. They are for guitar, bass, keyboard. There are various models, some with "pure/clean" sound for keys and PA type use, some more for guitar or bass.

Key thing is that the whole thing, with 2 ch amp and 3 way speakers built in, weigh only 20 lbs., have 400 W output, 3 way speaker system etc. I know someone with one of this company's amplifiers (not amp w/speakers) and it weights 5 lbs!

Anyone know, have tried, heard these?

Go listen to them FIRST....I would never buy one without blasting thru it with MY gear......& beware of the Numbers game regarding 400w

Looks great, but it better be for that price.
But you could get two for stereo and still be under the price of a used car!
Seriously, I'd like to hear one in action.
Best guarantee I've ever seen.

Not necessarily. My headphones don't need a sub!! As you said, you would have to listen to it.

Hi - since they happen to be in MY town (Raleigh, NC) I will be bringing my S900 over there and giving them a try. I'll report back here . . .

I visited their factory today. I'd call it a small "botique" amp maker; high-end, alot of the work is hand-done (less machines). The combo (Coda R) was amazing for a tiny 20 lb (pound) weight amp. Had plenty of volume, very clear sound. Sure, you'd need a sub if you wanted to make the dance floor rumble. When they added a 2nd (passive) cabinet (powered by the same amp in the main combo amp), it was quite a sound.

They are expensive - not sure (yet) whether it's worth my while to sell my Traynor K4 (nice but heavy) for one of these ...
