Hello from London

Hello from London - 03/06/08 04:26 AM

I just arrived in London to perform at a wedding tonight. It's really intriguing here. I've been all over the States and Canada and have found that each state has its own unique look and character, but London is something else!

The two most striking things I've noticed is that everything is small: the cars, the roads, the houses. Second thing is that gas is $8 a gallon!! Wow, and I thought New York was expensive at $3.40...

Hopefully I can get these English to put down their champagne and break the dance floor tonight!

Depends how good you are, we are rather reserved here...I'm sure you will do an excellent job.

I prefer tea...

I assume your fee is also going to be small by what you've said?

Enjoy your visit, and there is live outside of London, well sort of.

Well, it is a matter of perspective:

One may argue that things in London (or in Europe in general) are elegant as opposed to small, and things in the US are grossly exaggerated!!!!

The low gas prices you enjoy, are probably the highest ranking reason for US soldiers dead in Iraq and elsewhere.

Make the English give all they got!
Happy music,
Theodore

Chony,

While you in England, you may want to head to Blackpool, which several forum members are having a fantastic convention of arranger keyboard players this weekend. I was scheduled to go, but had to cancel because of my wife's health problems.

Good Luck,

Gary

I just finished and thank G-d I blew them away! I did three dance sets, the third being one and a half hours long, and I've never received so many compliments before! People looked at me really skeptically when I walked in with just a piano, but that changed when they saw what this arranger can do!

I didn't take any video, but if I can get hold of one, I'll post it.

Unfortunately I'm in and out, so I won't be able to join the other SZers here in London.

Sonic, actually I got paid quite well. The English are used to paying in pounds the same figures we pay in dollars, so when I charge them, they feel they are getting a bargain, and it turns out cheaper to take me than a local full band!

All the best to everyone: tomorrow I visit the London Eye and London Tower.

Chony, congratulations, hearing your music in the past at your web site ( also downloaded to my iPod) I knew you'd have no trouble being very succesful at that gig. Sounded like it was an exciting gig.

Thanks for posting!

Just got back from a day of touring; London is a really nice city. Lots of interesting places, people and tourist spots. Today I checked out the London Tower which was a palace, dungeon, torture center, and execution plaza.

G-d, am I happy I didn't live back then... Listening to the guide describe the era really brought home to me how lucky we are to live in our times.
