Who's Playing NEW YEARS EVE ? - 12/30/07 04:39 PM

I haven't been home on NYE for 37 years.......& tomorrow is no exception.
High End Formal Dinner & Dance about
375-400 pp...
To me its just another job that pays quite a bit more.........no big deal. Midnight they drop a big screen to see the Times Square Ball in NYC drop also....makes for a nice break
Should be fun & the food is always super!

How about you?

PS .......did I mention before that I have a double earlier? Two 1 hr NH shows.

Did the first NYE party last night, about 35 folks at a small retirement center.

Tomorrow's first job kicks off at 3:00 p.m., just a one hour NH performance. The next one fires up at 9:00 p.m. and goes till 1:00 p.m. at a larger retirement center where the audience averages about 150 people.

New Year's Day is the final with a 1-hour NH job, then I'm off for three glorious days before the January schedule goes into high gear.

Yep - a popular Club on the Gold Coast (in the state of Queensland, Australia) has us booked in their "special" room upstairs.

Just splashed out on some new dance lighting for it - looks like LEDs are the way to go these days btw.

It's the end of a run of 4 gigs in a row for us this week.
(Doesn't sound like a lot, but we normally work 3 well paid shows a week and have a few days off - these last 2 weeks it's been practically 3-4 days on, one day off - as we do high energy dance gigs - all styles - it takes it's toll on us...)

Anybody close to Shreveport and want to work?
I need to find somebody to play in the other side of the restaurant. Must be a single.
Probably too late.
Happy New Year!

I'll make an exception for you Tony! Of course after you see these Louisiana girls, you may not want to go back anyway!

At my age ( and Don's), I don't think I could handle one of those Cajun gals. Sure would be nice to try, though!

Gary it would prob be your last NYe gig......you'll be done in one way or the other by either the Cajun girl or for sure CAROL

Gary, I've been handling this one Cajun girl for 28 years, or she's been handling me, rather!

Yes, I'm glad it's over as well. I'm getting a little too old for these triples. And I have a dinner party at 6 to play for. 2008 is going to be great. And I echo Donny's request to get together and meet each other this year.

Here's to a great 2008,

Sad and happy to say this was the first New Years Eve I have not played in 46 years. Did I miss it? Yes, but it’s time.

On the good side we went out for dinner with another couple, he heard I was out of work so he paid for my dinner. aaaaaaaah, (grin) life goes on.

Re: Who's Playing NEW YEARS EVE ? - 01/01/08 09:00 PM

I spent New Years Eve entertaining a full baroom with the classic rock band I play with. The best thing was that this year the bar was only 10 minutes from home so it made for a reasonably early night home once it was through at 1 AM.
