Cleaning the disk drive

Cleaning the disk drive - 03/12/00 03:01 AM

I would like to know what is the best way to
clean the disk drive of my keyboard. Can I use
the same cleaning diskette and solution as I
use with the computer? At the moment I have
Yamaha PSR-4000 and I am waiting for the new
PSR-9000. The problem is that we are run out
of PSR-9000 keyboards here in Finland. Can I
clean both keyboards the same way? I want to
keep all my keyboards on a top condition.

Which way have you been cleaning the disk
drive? The manual says to use dry type
cleaning and our dealer says to use wet
type cleaning. Which of the two ways is
the best?

Do you mean cleaning your floppy drive on the PSR9000? If so, you can use anything that works with your PC's floppy drive. They are the same type of floppy drives.

That is exactly what I mean. I am very sorry
of my bad english. How do people clean the
floppy drive of a keyboard usually?

There was a discussion on an other Site and experienced people said not to clean at all.

Hi,

Well said ..... cleaning drives often create more problems than they solve. I work 'in computers' and cleaning drives is seldom needed as long as you use proper/quality floppy discs.

That was nice to know. I use quality disks in
my computer and in my keyboard. Still I donīt
use diskettes very much with the keyboard
becuse I prefer the Zip drive.

Thanks Ralf Behrmann and Roel!!!!!
