Hey guys and gals..
I wanted to start a video/chat site for a couple reasons...It is neat to see who we are chatting with..This site will also allow us to talk ..as in a room or individually with anyone in the General Arranger room..It will also allow us to play our arrangers sending audio to the room, up to 30 second clips..
We can also IM each other and also private chat with full video and audio..

For those that like to type ...it is always available..


It will probably take some time before others[all] decide to sign on...
I am also working on a host contact that will not be limited for us...

I will absorb the costs...it will always be free to all of you..


I would also like to affirm, that this chat/video site will not and never intended to replace Nigel's SZ..I just thought it would be great to expose everyone to the new possibilities my[our] site will offer..

I'd like to ask what internet speed I need to participate in the video fora. Currently I get 64KB/s (512 Kbits/s) international internet speed. Is this enough or I have to switch to more expensive plan?

George , your set up will work fine..

A camera is not necessary, but helpful. Without the camera your beautiful face will not be seen by the chatters. Otherwise the forum is a live type-chat. I guess you/we could use mics and have a live voice-chat, but these are posswibilities. I encourage everyone to check out this new, real time, interactive forum.

Again, let me say that this is not a replacement for or competition to SZ. There is only one SZ!

No Tony it is free..The Pro version gives you more options ,like multiple screens and many other features..
The standard will work fine.

Squeak is on board...I just chatted with Squeak a few minutes....Now we are getting some folks signed on....Lets sign on and get the room filled by next week..OK?

BTW...we can use SZ and the chat/video room at the same time..as well the same with Skype..

I just got off a voice chat with Fran. this is turning into a real cool experience - word, video and audio. We can even read SZ while we chat. You've got to get onto this!

Can't do it from here--top baud rate this week is 24,000. When it rains we're down to 9,600 at times. DSL doesn't even exist out here in the sticks, and the guys with the cable company said it will be sometime next year before we get decent cable hoopup speeds high enough for video.

Guess I'm stuck with the world's slowest dialup!

This camfrog thing is a good concept, as long as you have a microphone.... which I dont have right now,
And at least a half-decent connection, not dial up.

I believe in the months to come I will have both of the above so i can participate, for now I will settle for listening only, and occasionally writing down the answer.

Trying to come off with a quick written answer to both Squeak's and Donny's simultaneously spoken questions was a real challenge.

I forgot to mention, I had a communication with Bob Hughes [Solton Club boss}.He likes the new GA video/chat, and suggested to set a particular time that members from the Solton club could do a video/chat..

That would be great..we need folks to sign up..

You can bet I'll be back Fran. I got my mic sorted out. It was due to there being 2 different mic inputs on this new PC I've got. I just needed to switch mic input to the front input instead of the back.

Fran/Donny: I am new to chat room type stuff and have purposely avoided them. Great tool but seems to be the place of the great unknown on the web. When I logged onto FrogCam. I was immediately approached in the main room by a guy named "Frantheman". Somehow he knew how to "follow" me to the General arranger forum and again tried to talk to me. I did so with audio but choose not to show video. I asked if he was on synthzone and he said "it was having problems earlier today". I said "Oh, thanks, bye".

Is this guy legit or a stalker?

"Frantheman" is "Fran" so there was no need to be scared off. And yes Synth Zone was having a problem earlier today. It seems OK now at least.

Frogcam is pretty cool. It is a great way to connect.

I think that one of the great advantages of the video-chat is that it minimises the risk of being misunderstood when one is trying to be humourous Emoticons are all very well but they are no substitute for real facial expressions.
I am relieved to hear that there was a problem with the zone yesterday. I had downloaded Camfrog Pro. earlier and when I got back from my gig could not get in either here or Camfrog. Knowing the weird things that can happen sometimes after downloading programmes I was very happy this morning to find everything back to normal.

Hi everyone..... we are trying to get to the point that we can share music in real time we want to take advantages of things we can't do anywhere else..Multiple cams, live audio, private chats, and file sharing and an abundance of "other" rooms if you can't play anyway....Its a nice personalized General Arranger forum to get to know each other.....We want to get the Media Station interest here too, Domenik will be happy to work with them as a group he often drops in to chat share, audio clips, questions etc.....Fran Carango is doing a great job with this forum .......check it out its free to all.

Donny, when I tried to get on a couple days ago, I was told to sign up to Camfrog Pro. I couldn't get into the forum. Supposedly a module of some sort was missing. Do I need to reregister or am I doing something wrong? I'd like to get back to the arranger forum but it seems I've lost my membership connection.
