Vincent,
I have a Y3K and thankfully never had this problem. I presume you bought this used from a private party. I would start by making sure nothing is in the media card slot.

If that fails, you will have to go to your nearest Yamaha dealer. Try swapping the power supply with another one that you know is good.

If the problem is not the power supply, you might try downloading and reinstalling the Operating system. To do this you will need a media card. They are hard to find in stores, I suggest getting one from ebay.

If all else fails, it will have to be opened up. Maybe a circuit board became unseated during transit. You could try yourself, or rely on the nearest service center.

Good luck, keep us updated on your progress.

This is normal, this is the way it will be until you put your name in there. Nothing urgent about this. I'd imagine a lot of people never do it.

Go to Function>Utility>Owner>Owner Name. Type it in, hit OK.

Oh, I just reread your post. You say it stays in that screen.

A factory reset should take care of it. While the keyboard is off press and hold the highest white key (C) and continue to hold it down after turning it on. This is the factory reset and in most cases solves all problems.

From a SZ member.

I tried to call him but he's not answering, As far as I know he's well known here and a good guy, I'm thinking he's not home, he usually answers the phone or e-mail on time.

Thanks.

The keyboard stays in the initial screen, and I can barely see the letters: "Owners Name:"

The screen can't be adjusted...

Hi ViLo

I know the person you bought it from. One of the finest persons you'd want to know. So, no problem there, for sure.

It sounds like it may have been jarred in shipment even though the box looks ok.

The only other thing that comes to mind, is there any button or buttons that are perhaps engaged? Seems like a long shot, but it might be worth the try to press the buttons to see if something got jammed in an on position.

Vincent, Not sure who the shipping company was but I recently purchased a G70 from a SZ member. UPS screwed up the box and shipment big time. In my case they damaged the LCD to the point where almost 1/4 inch of the display was missing. I filed a claim and have been reimbursed for damages. You may want to take photos of the screen being locked at the owners name. Be sure to document everything you do including repair costs. I would call the company that shipped the keyboard to let then know it arrived damaged as soon as possible. Good luck.

Oh YeaH! no problem there, I already got in touch with him, like I said in one of my posts, he was out traveling, and yes, he is one of the nicest persons indeed.

The keyboard was very well packed in an oversize box.

So we'll see.

Thanks

Fed X, like I said, it was very well packed, I tried all the buttons, and keys but it's not going anywhere, the screen stays on the initial screen, and I can barely see the letters "Owneres Name:, I tried to adjust the contrast but nothing.

Thanks.

Hi Vilo,
you don't have any USB devices plugged in the back , like a memory stick??
If so, turn off, unplug & try switching on again.
best wishes

Hi Vilo,
the knob at the rear should adjust your screen??

I wonder if you could actually have a problem with the internal battery? supposedly they last for 5 years, I've never had a keyboard for that long, so not really quite sure of what the consequences are when a battery does go flat.
best wishes

Uh? You Are you asking? right? Yes the PSR3000 has a "knobless" knob? in the back, where you can adjust the contrast.
Thanks

Re: I received my PSR3000 today, I need help..It's Urgent! - 08/12/07 08:47 PM

Vilo,

I strongly suspect one of the connectors to the keyboard's motherboard has been jarred loose during shipping. However, in order to facilitate a repair it requires a complete disassembly of the keyboard, then inspecting each and every connector, of which there are a large number. Some are situated beneath the mother board, while others are easily accessible. If you do not have considerable electro-mechanical skills, I do not recommend doing this job at home. Any certified Yamaha repair facility can quickly check this out, and the cost averages about $75 an hour. Just opening the keyboard takes about 15 to 25 minutes, and this must be done carefully in order to avoid damage to the SM Card Drive cable. It has nothing to do with your power supply or USB devices, and a minor reset will not solve the problem because you cannot access that area of the OS if the keyboard will not boot up.

Good Luck,

Gary

I have solved the problem, I asked VILO (Vicente) to send the keyboard back to me and his money will be returned.
I’m glad that this world is not all about money.

The sad part is Vicente’s excitement and joy has been replaced with disappointment.

Hey, I am going to own a PSR3000 again, not bad.

Have you received your S900 yet?
I'd be interrested in hearing your views, even though I have my own.
Jim

Woops, didn't mean to do a hjack. Will start new thread to John C.

John Thanks again for your understanding, you are indeed a good man, I hope on day I can meet you in person.

It is said that what goes around comes around, and you have planted lots of good seeds with your way of doing things, and I wish you all the best.

Over 2 months ago before my van broke down, I sold it, after a week this person calls me and said the AC did not worked anymore and that it was overheating, I was already looking to buy an small pick up truck, I gave him his $1500.00 back, fixed the van, and drive it for another month when the time chain broke.
I'm not trying to say I'm a great person or something like that, but that proves that the golden rule ["Do onto others..."]it's in effect even today.

Thanks guys, THANKS JOHN!!!

I'll keep waiting for another keyboard.

I got the PSR3000 I sent to Vicente back. Brought in for repair. Gary was right on, again, shipping had caused some connection to be jarred causing no screen or sound. (When I got it back)

The bill was $55, works fine now. I had forgotten how good the sound was, nice to have it back. I’ll stay with PSR3000 until the Tyros 3, or whatever comes and let the S900 go by.
