Hello all,
Has anyone played this product? 88 note w/arranger features. MP3 sounds nice and has the Korg synth sounds too! Stores 100 songs. Wow. No speakers, but hey..for $1000 and home use only?

Zuki,
I sell this keyboard and have had a lot of sales of this product. It's portable, a great piano action and sounds, and gives you arranger capabilities as well as song recording. The only two drawbacks are no storage device for saving songs or playing them unless you hook up a computer and use the sequencer in the computer and no way to create your own styles or load new styles into the keyboard. But, for the money and the sounds, it is a very good arranger/piano keyboard. If you want to buy one, I've got them in stock!

George,
How's the Piano sound and they action compare to the Yamaha P80?

Re: Korg SP500 - 11/03/02 09:09 AM

The action feels almost identical(It should because it is a Yamaha keyboard). This is the graded hammer action as used in the PA80. Korg uses a Yamaha keyboard for the action on the SP500 (made in Japan, not Italy). Korg doesn not manufacture their own keyboard actions. If made in Italy, they use Fatar and in Japan they use Yamaha.
The sounds are great! There are many pianos to choose from.

The sp500 is a really nice piece. I passed on it because it doesn't have enough real time control for a "live" act, but in a home studio ..... it's a great choice. It's almost worth the price WITHOUT the arranger section. Action, sounds, looks - all great.

To be honest, PA80 keyboard is very low in quality. It seems too light and too plastic.

To me it is too low for the requested price.

I'm sure the PA80 referance was a typo .... George was referring to the Yamaha P80.

Yes, I'm sure George is referring to the PA80. I was just looking at the spec on the SP500 and it has a description about the "graded hammer action key" just like how Yamaha would describe it... must be the same like George Kaye said.

I can't be making all these mistakes.......I must be getting old! It is like the P80 Yamaha. All these letters and numbers just get so similar from brand to brand.
