Another Roland EM2000 question

I have yet another question. The manual doesn't seem to mention how to purge internal memory. I often get "Internal memory full" message when trying to copy from the EM2000 zip drive to a floppy diskette. Rebooting the keyboard does not work. I've tried numerous times and only got partial success on 2 occasions. Any suggestions? - perhaps I am doing something wrong?

I found the same on my EM2000. The answer was not to mark more than 5 files at one time to copy over. Sometimes the board locked-up and needed rebooting to clear the memory.

Check you have the latest OS installed. Its available to download from Roland.

Hi Graham and everyone,
The problem is that there is one big file 850 beats long (probalbly around 20 minutes or so) When I recorded it on the zip, I calculated that it should be small enough to fit on 1 floppy. I didn't consider the internal memory...
Is there a way to break the file up into smaller parts using the "song tools" via the keyboard, such as cutting and renaming or some other way?

I answered my own question - rather unexpectedly.
I went into song edit and deleted the first 15 bars since it wasn't necessary. Then when the keyboard asked me to save, I renamed the file and inserted the floppy into the drive. The keyboard picked up the floppy asked me whether to save there, which It thn did without any hitch. No internal memory full message or anything.!!!

Very weird. A result hoped for but very unexpected.
