Are the Mega Voices a big (noticeable) improvement over the PSR2100 (non Mega Voice) keyboard?
Do all the styles use the mega voices, or just a select few? Would a keyboard musican, who does no play guitar, notice the difference immediately?

Hi,
Megavoices are not in every 3000/Tyros style, but this is not the main problem.
Often the style is too large to be loaded or played correctly, I tried some Tyros styles at my 9000 and some has unwanted voice changes or interruotions. So some 3000/ Tyros styles may not work corectly at your 2100.
Another thing are the wrong voices. For example, the tyros seems to use for some guitars the same program change as used for trumpet in GM standard. So you have to revoice the 3000/ Tyros styles.
Better you look for 9000 and 2100 styles. Take a look to this http://www.technote.com/products.asp?catid=79&isparent=False&brand=
and this http://www.stylediskwarehouse.com/
Europeans can use this offer http://www.styles-music.com/
and these offers are in German, only http://www.d-o-o.de/shop/index.html http://www.hageshop.de/hageshop.html

and here are some free downloads http://www.psrtutorial.com/Files/YSintro.html http://heidruns-musikerseiten.de/psr9000/styles.php (German, but the most important words in English)

Oh sorry, I didn't read your posting carefully. Well the Megavoices makes the sound of guitars more natural, good noticable for all kinds of "unplugged" music. But in other kinds of music, like big band swing, the Mega Voice Technology makes no difference.
But some voices are better too, especially the acoustic steel string guitars, a litlle better than camp fire guitar. And the medium sax voices are better too, now you have mellow sax ensemble (for 40s Swing), bright sax ensemble (for Smoke Gets In Your Eyes in the Ray Conniff version)
The availability of optimized styles is not so good. D-o-o and Hage offers Tyros styles with Mega Voices and Yamaha itself also offers some Tyros styles.
Here you will find free Tyros downloads http://heidruns-musikerseiten.de/tyros/styles.php
About the better voices, it could make more sense to add a Roland tone generator for some better voices.
