Samson Q7 & PSR 3K

Samson Q7 & PSR 3K - 02/26/06 08:00 AM

It's been years since I have used or needed a cordless mic. My memories of previous ones I had include picking up emergency vehicle transmissions and McDonald's drive in orders.

But after all the talk about how great the Samson Q7 mic is, I opted for the cordless version from American Music Supply and am pleasantly surprised at mic's quality, look, feel, sound and resistance to feedback.

The receiver weighs only 12 ounces. After mounting it on my kb, with the help of Velcro, wiring to AC and mic input on the kb is a snap...and all controls are easily accessable to my left hand.

Here is how it looks in use. http://tinyurl.com/ebdxq

Eddie, I have one too. I have the version that makes any mic you plug into wireless, but it came with the Q7.

Beyone a doubt, the Q7 is the best hand-held mic I've ever used. I've had lots of mics, some very expensive, but not have come remotely close to the Q7 for crisp, vocal quality and resistance to feedback. I wish the Q7 came in a headset model.

I wonder who really makes the Samson Q7?

BTW Eddie what kind of X stand is that in the picture?

Gary, I still like the Sennheiser 855 better, but the Samson is really good too.

I like my E-855 too, but it seems to be more prone to feedback problems.

That's because it has extended high-end response. Maybe that's why I like it??

And I like the Q7 for just the opposite reason. It seems to enrich the lower end of my vocal range. (Look out Gary, I may end up doing Roger Whitaker stuff and change my name to "Diamond Eddie" )

I had an SM58 for the girl vocalist that sang with me last season. She had to be very careful around the Bose because of feedback issues. Otherwise, I was happy with it.

Donny...That X stand is exactly that. Nothing more than a chrome plated X that I have had since Noah sailed the arc. I got it when I was playing double kb's because it has an attachment for a 2nd tier. But, of course, I don't use it anymore.
