A Bit OT - MP3 Player Question

A Bit OT - MP3 Player Question - 01/03/05 10:14 PM

Greetings -

Can anybody recommend a freeware/shareware application that will allow me to play MP3 or WAV files and slow them down in real time without adjusting pitch? I need this functionality because I have come to the point in my study of Jazz where I will be doing transcriptions and will need to really slow down some solos to transcribe them.

Preliminary searches of twocows.com and download.com were unsuccessful.

Also, I'm not averse to paying for something that works well and comes highly recommended.

Thank you.

Hi Tommy,

If you already have a digital audio sequencer like Emagic Logic or Cakewalk Pro Audio, you should be able to time stretch/compress the music without changing the pitch, but there's a software program DEDICATED to exactly what you're looking for called: SlowGold. It costs $49.95, and has worked well for me.

Check with PGMusic, they have a program called SlowBlast...

Hi Glenn, SlowBlast is actually the budget version (by the same manufacter) of SlowGold. I originally got SlowBlast bundled free with BIAB, but upgraded to SlowGold at a reduced upgrade price. Only SlowGold supports MP3s. - Scott
