Hello All
Here is a link to a post on the Music Player Forum, worth reading just to see how other players view arrangers these days. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/18/t/020794.html
Enjoy whatever you play

Bill, another site that the negatives come from those, that either never played a good arranger or never mastered it..Most are completely out to lunch, and shouldn't matter to any of us..We will just do all the jobs..

Good to see Jim Esch plugging away..

BTW, did anyone ever enjoy gigging with a Karma

No point in clueing in our competition to how much easier it would be with an arranger..... Let them flounder in their ignorance, say I......

More gigs for us!

Hi Guys:

Interesting topic. Generally, from a songwriter's perspective, most of the music industry just does not have a clue that arrangers even exist. Regardless, the folks in Nashville seem to have the attitude that a keyboard is "cheesy." That's the way an insider described it to me.

What they want is for the songwriter to have his song turned into a demo in Nashville at the songwriter's expense. I have a friend who has followed this "edict" to the tune of about $750 bucks per song. He has 25 Nashville "cut" demos and most of them are pretty good. A couple are possible chart climbers but it just has not happened for him.

To me, the "lowly arranger" is a fantastic alternative if one will take the time to "Tweak" the sound and edit the results very carefully.

All my best,

I sincerely believe the audiences have always accepted arranger keyboards. Only a few individuals have not accepted them, and I for one hope they never do. Lots more jobs for me, and lots less for them!

Cheers,

Gary
