I'll be 'giggin' the grill on the patio. Lots of friends, family, food, drinks and fireworks. Com-on over!

Oh, I forgot. It's not a July 4 gig but I am doing a "guest artist" thing Sunday at the local UU church with a female singer and percussionist. We're doing a total rip-off of the Herbie Hancock/Christina Aguilera collaboration of Leon Russell's "A song for you". Sounds good in my house, it'll be interesting to see how it translates in a big, boomy, open hall.

As a matter of fact, I am entrusting my new HD camcorder to my wife for that event (may be a big mistake). If it makes me look good, maybe I'll post it if I can figure out how (HD video makes huge files). This young lady is very good, about 19-20 but with the soul of a 40 yr. old blues singer. She's like a Joss Stone with a southern accent. Weird.

1-5pm on the pool deck with a my guitarist, a drummer and another, guest guitarist (incredible local musician), two hours off for dinner at the restaurant, then two hours just with my guitarist before the fireworks, back out on the deck...

Best July 4 gig I ever did was at USAF Iraklion (which had its own beach) many moons ago. Beer was 20 tickets for $1 - yep, that ain't no typo! Those were the days my friends.

Nothng sad about being proud of the greatest country in the world my friend!

God Bless the U.S.A.
By Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

Was just waiting for you to say it. Alas, you don't see me coming. By the way, Europe can come up with the same line. Why don't you just accept that there are millions that love their country as much as much as you love yours and call theirs the greatest nation on earth.

Chas, I KNOW! I'll by playing at a Nursing Home and it sometimes sinks in that I'm as old as many of the residents.
I may have to start wearing a badge to be sure they let me leave. The Walmart greeter calls me Sir.
Happy Fourth of July.
Back to the original thread, I'm playing my usual weeknight job at the supper club.
My son is getting married 7-7-07 (it seems half the world is getting married that day), so I had to turn down a few jobs for Saturday.
Also best wishes to members from other nations. It is a RARE country that we have not at least TRIED to help sometime over the years.

Re: Who's Giggin 4th of JULY? - 07/05/07 09:14 AM

No, I am, however, setting up my system for the reception. I don't plan to play much live, but use MP3s for the "kids" favorite songs. Maybe I'll play for the old folks a while after the b&g leave.

Thx, Fran. Don't worry about this "life size" reproduction. Don't worry, we're all guilty of that now and then. Just not at this size.

You're looking more and more like Dustin Hoffman. Watch out for the Mrs Robinsons.

Re: Who's Giggin 4th of JULY? - 07/06/07 03:24 PM

I forgot to mention...while I played this gig..a fella from Maryland came up to me and asked how I liked the G70...I told him it was the best board I ever played...

He told me he was a dealer in Maryland and sold the G70 and E80...[by the way..He knew you DanO]..Then his cred-ability went down the tubes..when he told me the KN7000 was a better board by far, over the G70 and E80....and then he said the 7000 had better organs than the Rolands[VK draw-bars]...that was it, I knew he didn't have a clue about Roland boards...

What do you think BeBop?
