Joining the Laptop Dance - 04/14/03 05:22 PM

The April issue of Computer Music was just delivered to Borders today, and it contains a very comprehensive 10 page article on Laptop Music. Looks good.

It states, "We're going to show you how to put together the perfect laptop setup for your needs. Whether you're after a full-blown digital audio workstation, a simple all-in-one songwriting suite, a replacement for your desktop, or something inbetween, we'll take you thru the hardware, software and everything else you need to know to stert living in the laptop of luxury."

Gotta go read

Sounds good... laptop audio production is a kind of Holy Grail chock full of pitfalls due to to relatively slow development of high-speed low-latency external audio interfaces. Firewire and USB 2.0 will likely change all that and make things easier. There is a new bus-powered Firewire audio/midi interface from M-Audio (Firewire 410) that is due out in June which looks very lust-worthy.
