Keyboard Speakers - 08/24/07 07:52 AM

Hi,

I looking to buy a keyboard speaker for practice and also using on the stage. I read somewhere that 2 small speakers in a cabinet (like 8" or 10") sounds better than a one 15" speaker in a cabinet. Is this correct ?

Anyone has any suggestions/recommendations ?

Thanks for your replies.

Take YOUR keyboard to the store .....play though every speaker system YOUR interested in at the Volume YOU enjoy and LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN......A/B'ing them over & over again.....this is a very personal choice that only YOU can answer.

Also take a GOOD look at the TRAYNOR K4 awesome KB amp.

Excellent amps...I have performed with Barbetta 32c's in the past.....although NOT Stereo like the Traynor K4, but great TIGHT sound, nice flexibility & mixing hookup capabilities also. If you want more Bass go for the 15" vs the dual 10"s.

Donny, the Traynor K2 is 16 lbs lighter, 200w vs 300 for the K4, has fewer inputs, is mono, and $150-200 less. otherwise pretty much the same as K4. I've never heard either, but the dealer in ct about 1.3 hrs drive says he doesn't think the audience will be able to discern much difference, since the stereo speakers are not spread. I don't need 300w, have you ever heard the K2? i'd have to have the guy order one for a demo, he won't order both for me to a/b unless I guarantee a purchase on the spot.

Mo the K2 does not compare to the tri amped K4..
Why compromise..get the best..
Also I think the K4 is far superior to the Barbettas, too. Feature wise and overall..

Thanks, Fran. i think i'll wait until Nov. when i get back to miami. but i may find lifting the 57.3 lbs too risky for me..and i'm not going to go w/barbetta because they are too small to provide service and lots of complaints online re breakdowns. How do you think the K2 would stack up to other mono amps? I don't use arrangements, just bass/drums, so not sure i need stereo all that much..think the K2 would be better than Roland kc350 or Behringer 1800fx or equivalent Crate or other? Mo

Can we compare the quality of Traynor and Roland speakers ?
