The Road to Becoming a Better Musician
--------------------------------------------
*Have a more positive mental attitude*
*Learn to practice more productively*
*Practice the day of your lesson, after your lesson so you can immediately begin applying what you learned*
*Stop procrastinating*
*Prepare as you go...don't wait for miracles*
*Determine what role your keyboard playing has in the "big" picture*
*Do more serious score study with recordings*
*Work on the keys more consistently*
*Listen to other players to determine how you want to sound*
*Learn how to make it through those "burn out" periods*
*Motivate yourself and work on not being too hard on yourself when you are not progressing as quickly as you would like*
*SLOWER practice -- "Speed kills"*
*FOCUS*
*Practice more and take it more seriously while you are in a practice room*
*Learn to practice more creatively*
*Learn to be more aware of how you sound in a practice room -- the real world is not always as "boomy" as a practice room!*
*Prioritize your time and goals when you practice*
*Accept the fact that you have to sound "bad" sometimes in order to improve*
*Have a more positive mental attitude in general*
*Take notes in your lessons*
*Set a goal to play every day -- you can be sure that someone else is*
* Repetition and Patience*
*Listen to more recordings -- of all types of musicians*
*Set up practice time(s) in your schedule and stick to it*
*Practice every aspect of your playing every day*
*Remember to enjoy yourself and your music making -- Cherish your talents*
