Midi File to Style (stl) ?

Midi File to Style (stl) ? - 02/19/01 01:27 AM

Re- EM2000 & G1000. I am about to delve into having a go at converting Midi File to Styles (stl) on the EM2000.
I do realise that bars in the Midi File have to be covered first to Cmaj7. Is there a way of doing this within the EM or do I have to use a PC Sequencer. (I have both Cubase & Cakewalk). I have read through the manual but the chord conversion part is little mentioned.
I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has already done some Midi File to stl conversion.

Thankyou Graham UK.

It should be nice to have EMC style converter Pro,it has a function to make styles from midi, but you should try Cakewalk, put midi in, check the tune, transpose everything in C-(thatīs absolete necesary) then get only the parts you need, like Intro 2 bars or Basic " bars, you can even "loop" them in sequencer to listen if they are looping well,no drops or fallings, save like midifile and back to the keyboard.
If you want you can check my web site at www.topcities/music/vio for another way to make styles...Good luck

I asume that if you use a sequencer like Cakewalk, you transpose everything to C ?
I don't know where the Cmaj7 comes from.

And how do you put intro, fills, basic, variation and endings into one midifile.
There has to be something to tell you KB what part is what ?

Vio you said save like midifile and back to keyboard I wonder could you say what next as midifile is not a style or a pattern ?
