Looks good, but for OMB use, I'd rather have something lighter weight that can sit on a mic stand. I have a couple of Carvins that work great, but their unpowered.

Here's one that weighs 20 lbs with 100 watts for $227.00.

Guess one would have to hear them to see which has the better sound.

Seems to me that possibly the Fender 1270P might be a better way to go for those that want to use them for mains or monitors than the Yamaha MSR100's. They weigh less, have the same rated power and cost $142 less.

Has anybody tried the 1270P ?

Hi Scott
1270P is a great little unit. I use one & an Irish group I'm with use 3 of them. Sometimes our stage space is quite tight and the 1270P's work quite well. You can set them up at different angles.

Hi Gord

Are you using them for mains?

How large of an audience would these work for?

I would think they would work better than the Logitech z2200. I heard the z2300's the other day, and they sure wouldn't work for me. Not the kind of sound I would want to use with my Tyros, as there is no mid-range at all.

The frequency response on the Fender 1270P starts at 110Hz. That is not a good bass response. Looks better for vocals or acoustic guitar - not keyboard playing. So I don't think it would compare to the MSR100.

I wouldn't gig with it except perhaps as a personal monitor in an ensemble situation.

Thanx Beakybird, I didn't really look at the other specs that closely. There sure wouldn't be much bass at all unless you used a sub like from my z5500.

Hi Scott
The 1270P's are used only as a monitor. As mentioned previously, the ability to set this small unit up with different angles is a great feature. With a 10 inch speaker, of course, its main use is midrange stuff, -but I use use it with my SD1/vocals for monitoring & think its just great. Our Irish group uses it for Vocal, Piano, Guitar, Violin, Flute and other than the usual problems of getting the correct mix at each of the three 1270P's, the 'group' just thinks the Fender units are OK.
