Are you first clearing all tracks in the style you're recording?

Are you creating a style or a MIDI sequence?
Squeak is assuming your are making a style. Is this correct? On what track did you record the drum sequence?

P.S. I also own a PSR550, although I don't do a lot of recording.

Bingo!!!

I think you have to record the drums on track 10..

Frans right. Your drums have to be recorded on track 10, and then you can record extra percussive instruments on track 9.

Here's a cool hint for you. There's a hip hop styles (can't remember what the number is) on the PSR-550 that will allow you to record with a kit you cannot select from the panel voices. I don't know the technical term for what Yammie did, but the hi-hat, snares, ect are different. In order to use this kit though you'll have to delete the entire style or delete portions of it, basically having to go into style record/edit mode to use the kit.
