CME UF 76 - 08/08/05 08:30 AM

I know I have posted related topics in the General discussion and the bar but I wanted to bring this controller to the arranger forum.

I know we have been talking about having 76 keys to play with whether by a single arranger or by an arranger module and a controller.

This CME UF 76 looks very interesting. I was wondering what other members think about it. Has any one used it.
What about the 76 key one that has the key range from A-C instead of E-G?
I like the assignable knobs and sliders.

Are they on the right track?

Just throwing these questions out there feel free to address any other relevant points.

If I remember correctly, it has no registrations; in other words, you cannot save your settings (midi channels, bank and program changes). Other master keyboards allow you to save these settings in memories or registrations and usually have 128 of them.

just a note that the M-Audio doesn't allow registration storage either..as far as i know the ROland controllers do, but they don't get into the higher levels of sound controllers...ie synth sound parameters.

dennis, depending on the software system you use you may not need to store system setups on the keyboard. I happen to like a controller keyboard with the ability to store 128 setups (program changes, effects, volume, etc.).

In my case I use forte Ensemble as my VST/DX host. It allows storing scenes or system setups for the software you are using on the computer. You make scene changes during live performances by sending program change numbers from your controller keyboard. As a result, you only need the ability send such program change numbers. In some instances you can setup different instruments on separate channels and then switch channels as needed (instrument & effects changes during live performances).

That was another of my concerns not being able to use registration storage in the CME. But it seems that the CME is mostly marketed to use with computer software and that you may not need registration for that.

I just wonder how useful is the CME with a hardware synth.
