Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/17/06 01:44 AM

Now I have allready more than 35 Mart Weeho
styles for my G70. And they are FREE.Great!
This could be done by other keyboardplayers
for their own keyboards such as Yamaha,Korg
or Ketron,Technics and so on.
Come on guys and girls why not.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/17/06 08:55 AM

Some players , I suppose young players, say
they are a bit too classic. But Mart Weeho
makes only styles when he likes that kind of
music and he is not the youngest keyboard-
player on earth.I like his styles and I can
use them very well. Stylemaking takes a lot
of time and I should like to see that there
were more musicians who shared there styles
with other players.

I heard the commercial stylemakers are not
happy when there are styles free to download
And I am not sure about what keyboardsellers
think.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/19/06 02:05 AM

Why should they be unhappy?! As long as nobody is infringing copyright, then there is nothing to be unhappy about... This sounds strange to me?!?... Can you elaborate on the topic? Thanks

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/19/06 08:52 AM

I think commercial stylemakers are afraid
to sell fewer styledisks when some styles
can be downloaded free on the net.
This is not my opinion because I know that
these styles are not the same styles.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/19/06 01:22 PM

Well, I think this is a hoax! I don't believe that the professional style companies give a damn. Their products are typically of high quality, whereas the home made styles are typically of lower quality. Besides, this amateur styles makers have been there since the dawn of the arranger keyboard. My point is that nothing has changed... this is indeed a hoax Do you have any documentation showing that anyone is angry/unhappy?

I agree with Weissefar. Styles don't come cheap and for a reason.
Keyboard sellers sell keyboards that let you create your owns styles if that's what you wish to do. So why should they be unhappy? Once the keyboard's sold it is up to the buyer what he/she decides what to do with it. Isn't that, after all, part of the sales pitch?

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/19/06 10:48 PM

I know I started this but I see I ceated a
problem. The main problem is my poor english
and that is why I can not say exactly what I
want to say.
How was the situation; My sister in law had her birthday and the room is filled with
people and they are talking, eating, drin-
king and what so ever. I talked with one of
my younger nephews (25) and a few of his friends. I told them about keyboardplaying
and about everything around that.
At the moment I told them of stylesellers
and styles which are free to download one
of them said in Dutch "Daar zijn de style-
verkopers niet blij mee". This means "style-
sellers are not happy with that".
This is what I wrote on the net but I do not
agree with that. It was a partystatement not
a real opinion.
I hope this will not be misunderstood but if
so it is my incorrect message about this.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/19/06 11:56 PM

I think there is no problem at all.
Commercial styles are more complete with
Intro's, Endings and Fills. They are more
accurate and exact than homemadestyles.
But K.Boarder I understand what you tried to
explain , it is not so easy to write in a
language that is not your first language.
Mart Weeho and other amateur stylemakers do
me a great favour with their styles, but I am a client of commercial stylemakers too.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/23/06 07:36 AM

This thread brings up an old rant of mine...why in the world is Roland so darn stingy in producing new styles for us? I'd like to know their philosophy on this.

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/23/06 09:05 AM

Tim , there are around 1,700 Roland styles[not conversions] available...
Roland revamps or creates styles for each new model as needed..I don't think it is necessary for the primary company[Roland, yamaha etc.] to create styles other than what they intend to use in a current model..

There are third party companies doing this, and with conversion software...we already have more then we can possibly use...My library is approaching 20,000 styles..

Besides , Roland gives you the tools with the high end keyboards, to create / modify the onboard styles...As an example , the G70 can modify styles with "song/style tools"..

Tim, even your KR7, can alter styles with in the board itself...It is like the VA7 in this area...Right?

Re: Free G70 Styles - 03/23/06 09:53 AM

Fran,
That's true. The KR7 allows you to manipulate the internal styles and save them to User. I'm more interested in FRESH styles that have no resemblance to the internal styles but are of the same or better quality than the internal styles. Some of Roland's older styles sound dated because they were mechanically produced rather than played 'live' via V-drums and V-guitars. Am I just spoiled?

Fran, I especially am enjoying the G-70 styles you sent me some time ago. Most of them are excellent. (A few don't translate to my KR7 very well because of the advanced G-70 sound engine and parts) If you have any other styles you think I would enjoy, please send them my way. I especially like the acoustic jazz styles.
