Roland RS-9

Roland RS-9 - 10/23/02 01:49 PM

What other keyboards can we compare the RS-9 with? ($999.00 price range)

I am about to get a Roland RS-9. It's a 64-voice 88-Key weighted action keyboard. This is in addition to my PA-80. For the last few outings, I had been taking the PA80 together with the Yamaha P-80 with me and it's killing me! The RS-9 has decent piano plus a few other sounds. It's lighter and I can access to the sound much faster.

Any comment?

You can not find an 88 note piano that has as many sounds and features as the RS9 .

It is very light weight indeed !

Unless you go up to a Yamaha S80 or Alesis
QS 8.1 .

I can get you a used RS9 for $849.00 .

WEIGHTED action? I don't think so. It's really a synth action with waterfall keys. The key touch is VERY light .... just like the old Roland EP piano series. It feels like a synth ... not a piano, but it does have some great sounds in it. Try the scat vocals !

UD, you're right! Not weighted action (I copy/paste that from a website)

I actually tried it out at my local Guitar Center for a couple hours and it seems to have all the basic sounds I need. It's like the older JV series sounds. Geez was that the JV-80? Now PA80, P80 and whatever80! It's must be me and the #80. Anycase, I will pick up my new RS-9 at the local store tonight.

Now, I only need to find a way to sneak the new board down to my studio without my wife noticing

............before you bring it in the house ... PAINT something. That'll that'll raise your "husband-worth" factor.
