Ketron at Disma Music show - 05/05/02 11:50 PM

I visited Disma Music show in Rimini this year. Besides opportunity to speak to Sandro and other nice guys from Ketron team I must mention the XD9 presentation, performed by a very talented young musician, who was able to demonstrate all the potentials of the new, very good, very interesting and affordable keyboard with SD1 quality styles and sounds! XD9 has also a useful new function that is currently not available on SD1 but it was said it can be implemented in the near future . It's a function called manual bas, but the whole arranger plays along, not only the drums. Maybe A.J. Ketron could give us a hint, when we could see this function on SD1?

Friends,
I am currently testing and finalizing the XD9 for the market for now (implementing minor adjustments to layout, OS, sounds & styles refinement etc). I want to ensure that previous issues do NOT repeat themselves as this was my promise to you. The new features on this keyboard will make a lot of heads turn. Although I am not allowed to disclose a lot on this forum, I will say that most of the XD9 is being developed around what you asked for in arranger keyboards. Like I said when I came on board, we will turn things around ... for the better and that is my #1 priority with KETRON. There is no definate date for production units yet, but it will be soon. Look out for the detailed brochers and manuals!
Thanks,
AJ

Re: Ketron at Disma Music show - 05/07/02 08:41 PM

heres some info I found on the XD9....

XD 9 Arranger Keyboard

XD9 keyboard, 5 octaves, amplified, 170 Styles,
45 Patterns and Microphone. Hard Disk,
Vocalizer, Sound and Pattern expansion as
optionals.

Complete with an excellent sound generation and
with new Styles and truly explosive Rhythms the
XD9 keyboard is standing to be a true role leader
in live entertainment.

Together with European Folklore and Italian
ballroom music (also renewed and now
traditionally the stronghold of Ketron) the XD9 also
interprets all the new musical trends such as
Dance, Hip Hop, Latin, Latin dance with
outstanding quality, thus finally allowing the
musician to play with the same sound impact as
that of the modern Dance discography.

Furthermore with the revolutionary Drum Remix
function, the XD9 enables the musician to very
easily remix any old Midifile by replacing the
normal Drum Set with new and powerful "Live"
Rhythms that are operated and controlled live by
the player himself !

The Sounds and Rhythms with which the
keyboard is supplied can be expanded by adding
optional Flash cards programmed by the factory
and specialised for various types of music
(Orchestral, Dance, Latin, Ballroom, Piano etc.),
which are simple to install in the instrument.

In my conversation with Ketron's distributor in the US yesterday, delivery dates are still not known on these new products. An estimate is still 60 to 90 days from now with the Vega keyboard coming sometime soon after.
Price will not be known I was told until July 1 or near that time.

AJ felt like he talked too much about the XD3/9 new features... The feature you were talking about is very important for many of us; how would we satisfactory interpret "A Whiter Shade of Pale" among many others? I remember owning a Casio keyboard (with horrible touch sensitive buttons), many years ago (end 80's ?), that had this feature (more like a playing mode).
