Oh well, my idea of using the Vocal Harmony card for Variphrase effects will NOT work, according to the manual. The 9000Pro does not work with "Effect Plug-in Boards (e.g.,, PLG-100VH). Boo Hiss.

Well, its humorous in a way. I had heard there would be some new styles and they are there. Specifically, there are two more style in Flash, "Vocal Swing" and "Jazz Singer".

So what is the difference? 76 keys versus 61. No speakers versus speakers, so 5 lbs less weight. A few new high quality sounds, most notably the piano, and maybe the regular and Arabic drum kits. Two new styles. Upgraded vocal harmony, with compressor and noise gate. Differential (low noise) line/mic inputs.

The main advance is the inclusion of plug-in slots for Virtual Acoustic, Analog, DX, XG, or piano cards. The virtual acoustic is the most interesting to me, although it is only monophonic.

All in all, a lot of good incremental changes.

Hello

Is there any way to have those new sounds of
the PRO version on the normal PSR9000? Our
dealer told me that Yamaha has a sample CD
which has the new sounds for the standard
PSR9000 and maybe for PSR8000 also. Does
anyone know anything about it?

So there are two more styles in Flash. I am
sure that it is possible to have those styles
on other PSR keyboards also.

I am waiting for the PRO version to come to
Finland because I would like to try it. I am
not going to change my normal PSR9000 to it
because I need the internal speakers and the
PRO is also too long so it doesn´t fit to
our car. To my eye the normal PSR9000 is also
more beautiful.

Hi Micco

I think the 9000Pro will not be much help to people that do not own it. Voices are much more than samples: they are usually programmed multisamples. Maybe this is an area for Ralf Behrman. The styles probably rely on new scat sounds, so while the styles will work on other PSRs, they may not sound the same. Again, some work will be required to make them useful on other keyboards.

Got the two new 9000pro flash styles today (JazzSinger and VocalSwing). Made some voice changes from 9000pro voices to PSR9000 voices (Live!Piano->GrandPiano and SweetMuteTp->MutedTrump) in the styles and in the OTS settings to have the best performance on the PSR9000. Sounds great at all...

Anyone who is interested in the two styles for the PSR9000 send me a mail or download the zip with the modified styles (9000pro.zip) from Bob Gelmans eGroups style site.
