I'll be checking out the new Motif in Nashville next week .

You have to give Yamaha credit , they do not wait to Winter Nammm shows to release a new product line . Last year at summer NAMM , I played the Tyro's , Genesys , KN7000 + XD9 .

I actually like that they leak the news early as well. That way if I was considering buying something new, I have the heads up that I might want to wait.

Most of the other companies wait until the very last minute to announce anything and allot of times people may hve already purchased something else.

Dan0, don't forget to give us the scoop on the Motif ES. I know this is an Arranger Forum but several of our members use non-Arrangers in addition to their Arrangers so if you could stop by the Motif ES booth it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also it's nice to know that the Motif ES's Polyphony can be EXPANDED BEYOND the 128 note polyphony it has already by installing the PLG plugin boards. One PLG board in particular will add an additional 64 notes of polyphony. Others will add 32 notes more of it depending on which board you get. That is really a great bonus feature.

Also a quote from Yamaha:

[The Heart of the Expanded System]

"The newly designed tone generator chip offers 'true 128-note polyphony' that gives you the freedom to create intricate compositions using the full gamut of the MOTIF ES Exceptional Sonic power. These instruments are designed for serious music production. The newly developed synth engine offers new synthesizer parameters and faster, more precise envelope control."

Now if they would just start making their Arrangers with 'true note polyphony'.

Best regards,
Mike

PS: It will be interesting to see if there is indeed any note dropoff on the new Motif ES when giving it a thorough work out.

Mike

Thanks for reminding Dan01 to check out the ES on his trip to Namm. I'm looking for a really good practice keyboard and a Motif 88 ES would look really nice in my studio; er-- I mean Den!! :-)

I, like Terry, also ordered the Motif ES DVD.

DROOOL! DROOOL!.. Man what a nice synth. I'd love to play with the voice editing in that thing to see what kind of sounds you can get from it...
