New Hassidic Tyros 2 recording!

New Hassidic Tyros 2 recording! - 12/05/05 05:44 PM

Now that I have the Tyros 2, I no longer had an excuse not to make a recording. So here it is:

This is a 12 minute (or so) medley of Hassidic wedding songs. As I recorded this live in one take, there are quite a few mistakes, but you'll get the idea!

This is 100% Tyros made. I used just the Tyros keyboard with 2 foot switches (for fill-ins). I would have used a third foot switch for additional kinds of fill-ins, but just as I started to record, it failed on me.

All the styles are custom, and the voices have been slightly tweaked and saved as registrations for easy access. As you can see, I still have some learning to do with regards to the control of some of the SA voices - but I figured if I wait any longer, I'll never post...

I'm sure this is music like you've never heard before, please post your comments!

Hi Choney,

Just listening to your music....

Lot's of fun. Very energetic.
Wants you to get up and dance.
Great guitar solos.

The custom Styles you mention: are they commercial or did you make them?

Thanks for sharing.

Eric

Thanks Eric -- its wedding music - that's the point!

I made all the styles myself ... and unfortunately they're not for sale. I'd be hurt financially if it got into the wrong hands, I'm sure you understand!

I forgot to mention about the guitar solos - they're unbelieveble ! Chony how do you switch from an instrument to another that fast ?..i don't know if i could do that in real time..how do you switch that fast? ..you don't have to search for the different instruments.. ?

WOW! Chony, that is (in my opinion) the best instrumental arrangement I've heard on the SynthZone to date. Absolutely stunning! An excellent job on the styles (especially the drum work). I was very impressed with the guitar solos (very nice). Man that T2 sounds great Excellent job my friend.

Regards,
Squeak

Good showcasing of numerous instruments and drum potential. I'm just glad I didn't have to dance to that song

Great stuff Choni!

Great accomp, there seems to be more than 4 variations - are you using more than one beat?

(p.s. I'm now in New York with the Tyros)

Thanks everyone for your comments!

claudio - the way I change instruments so fast, is by having them on hand in the registration settings.

squeak - thank you. I like the guitar too . When I get into it, I completely lose sense of where I am - the fingers become an extention of the soul!

zuki - I'm sometimes asked to do a 90 minute set of that kind of music! You wouldn't believe how much energy they have around here!

zalmi - I have about 30 self-created styles, and this recording pulled from many of them.

Thanks again!

When I get a chance I hope to post a sample of my music Horra and Klezmer music and styles.

Chony, this sounds great, and the guitar solo at 7:35 to about 8:00 is awesome!!!!!!!

I have a guy here in the same office as me, that acts as "the second opinion" on songs I download from Synthzone. He said at 5:00 "For God's sake stop this" because this kind of music is completely unknown here in Greece, but I find it very cheerful and well played. Very well played.
What does "Hassidic" means?

Some nice sounds in there, however the guitars well! I was bought up in the seventies with Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath etc, and we also have a lot of original and cover bands where I live, so I know how a guitar should sound, and the Tyros guitars have a long way to go yet.
If you follow this link http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=guitarrig2_us&ftu=96434e5a20 you can download a demo to give you an idea of what they should sound like.
Keep the tunes coming though?

Thanks Bill, but remember I'm not using a real guitar -- this is with a keyboard. Can the NI Guitar Rig play from a MIDI keyboard and are the guitar sounds set up to recognize touch sense, after touch, modulation, and the effects of playing legato etc like the Tyros?

I'd certainly be interested if this was the case.

Guitar Rig is not a guitar simulator, it is a software program to replicate all the different effects processors, microphones, speakers, etc, that are used by guitar players on stage. (The racks you see behind the players)
The effects section on Tyros 2 is quite primitive compared to these, however if you played the Tyros 2 Guitars without effects,(Audio Output not Midi) through Guitar Rig then you would really know what they are capable of.
I chose this program’s demos to give you an idea of what a real guitarist sounds like on stage.
If you want Guitar Emulation then try Real Guitar, which is about as close as you can get, next to the real instrument.

Chony,

Excellent performance. Very creative use of instrumental solos to add variability into somewhat repetitive verses. The guitar solos are awesome - I am very impressed with your technique.

The alto (or was it tenor) sax on T2 sounds a bit fruity to me, but you used it very well.

I have taken some pointers from your inspiration performance (but don't worry - I am about as far from NY as one can get).

Best regards,
Alex

I forgot to ask you: there were a couple of riffs which sounded like multi-pads. Were they? or was it all in your custom styles?

Please, could someone explain what "Hassidic" means?

Great music! Thanks for sharing!

According to my Webster's dictionary: Hassid is a variation of Chassid which is defined as a member of a Jewish movement of popular mysticism (whatever that means) founded in eastern Europe in the 18th century.
