Chord problems with VA-7

Chord problems with VA-7 - 12/17/01 02:05 PM

Hi,

I always play 'The Corrs - Radio' using the Dsus2 chord. Dsus2 is played as D,E,A. But when I play that in normal arranger mode, it does not fit at all. So I change in 'Other' to Dynamic Bass and play the chord again. It says Asus now on the screen, so still not right and it also doesn't sound right. A few days ago I was in the music store where I bought the board to repair some keys. While it was being repaired, I walked around in the shop and I saw the PA-80 in the showroom and tried the chord there, there it says indeed Dsus2 and it also does sound right. Maybe Roland has a lack of chords, because there are also no rootless chords inplemented.. Am I able to play the Dsus2 right or does it just keep sounding wrong..?

Sander,
to have the VA 7 recognize a D sus you have to play D G A; if you then add the E (D E G A) the display will read Dsus9 (which is like Dsus2, only an octave higher). On my VA 7 this works both in Piano style mode and in Standard mode (for the arranger).
Hope this helps.

Andrea,

Thanks again! So I need to look for the same sort of chords actually. Anyway.. I hope that the chord recognition is better in the following series of Roland.
