............I wanted to hate it, but to be fair - in HIS hands, it sounded perfectly acceptable. I prefer many other brands, and I admit, that I was not fond of the unit as a whole, but hey - For a few hundred bucks, this guy had MORE than his money back in 2 or 3 jobs.

Just shows to go ya ..... it aint the tools. It's the artisan.

I told him he needed a 9000pro, but he wouldn't listen. Imagine that. Poor guy is gonna get laughed at every night he continues to make his living, creating wonderful music on a department store toy keyboard. Some guys never learn.

Next thing you know, he'll spray paint it camoflage and make a million playing the VFW circuit.

Right on, Dave. It is the player not the board, for the most part.

Before plumping for my PSR740 years ago, I bought a WK1200 because of its long keyboard. I have to say it did have some nice patches on it, noteably in the synth section, but the styles were utterly dreadful. My faves were the breathy vocal pads and warm synth pads, the piano lacked emotion and character but at the time, for the price it was a big keyboard and had a nice internal speaker system. I have quickly played on a WK1800 and as said above, in the right hands it can sound very good (as can just about anything!). I still though agree that Casio make the cheesiest styles in the universe!

I thought there styles on the MZ-2000 were way better than anything they had on other models... I thought some of them were really good.

20 years ago we would have paid way over 1000 bucks for a keyboard that does what the Wal Mart Casios. My PS6100 was well over 1000. I could see carrying one around as a spare.
