Someone offered me the old JV1080 módule from Roland packed with 4 expansion boards (orch I,II,world and asia)at a reasonable price. I wonder if that would be a good addition to use with my psr3000 in a live set. Any comments is appreciated. Telmo.

Telmo - The 1080 was a bit of a classic for many years and still sounds good today. It is a bit difficult to program if you are not used to Roland sound construction. At the right prive I would snap it up.

I always think that Rolands replay SMF midi files much better than other makes if that is of interest to you

Personally I think the Roland sounds are very hard to beat. And with 4 expansion cards you would be getting a superb sound library of sounds. If the the price on this is good I'd certainly go for it. I still have an old expanded JV-880 ( an earlier member of the JV family ) and there are sounds in it that my Yamaha Motif 6 can't touch.

Hi Telmo

I agree with Nigel - It is a competent and complimentary unit to any modern keyboard - for several years it was the only unit I had to go gigging with. It is only since 2003 that it is used less, but it covers all the holes left by the PSR 3000 - Other Recommended Boards i)Sounds of the 60s and 70s ii)Drum and Bass Board iii)Dance Board but there are many others, all pretty good.

Thanks to all of you guys for the nice comments. My JV-1080 will be delivered in 2 days, and I can't wait to use it along with my PSR-3000. With these two winners I'll really rock. Regards, Telmo.

Nigel,
There is a super JV 1080 sitting here in my studio with 4 card inserts that hasn't been turned on in a couple of years. Grab your check book, the good looking blonde, the cute dog and point that hot sports car of yours to San Jose. I am sure we could figure out a price
Best regards,
