Hi Zuki,
are you sorry you didn't get the KN7, or are you just a satisfied VA76 owner?? and leaving it at that.
I added a secondhand va7 to my collection recently, and the styles are definitely different to my 9000pro & my kn7 styles & sounds. VA7 takes a bit of getting used to, as the last Roland I had was the G800.( going back a few years now)

best wishes

Re: Selling Tyros - 04/19/03 08:08 PM

hi zuki,
i'm with rolandfan on this one. i've had my
va 76 for a month. i used it twice on stage.
this keyboard is the best arranger "for me"
in what i need. it stays in the mix with no problem on stage. i converted most of my korg i styles to roland. right now, i'm using the i5s for its styles in combination
with the va styles. i really like how easy it is to convert or write new styles on this
keyboard and the keys feel great. eventually
i hope to just use the va76 only. what didn't you like about the tyros? i tried the
pa80 and the pa60 neither suited me. you never know until you try these keyboards out
in the real world conditions.

Well....Wrinkles..just got to keep trying them all I guess. I keep going back to the VA for its overall sounds and styles. They suit my ears the best. I tried and tried and really liked the Tyros the first couple of days and then certain things started to bother me. I took it off the stand, put on the VA and the fullness came back. Maybe it's my lack of skills (Scott sounds terrific on his Tyros!) and the VA seems to 'cover' my weakness. If I could get the Korg styles for the VA, I'd probably stay on this path for a while.
Someone else's turn to make a fool of him/herself!

When you talk about "fullness" are you referring to the actual audio quality itself ie. when you are just playing a patch without styles running, or are you talking more about the musical "fullness" of the styles themselves ?

Nigel,
The sounds/styles together, or alone, seem more 'life-like' to me. I think what captures me most are the human voices that intertwine in mixes. No other board I've heard offers that feature? As a pianist, I still prefer the VA acoustic fullness and of course, the keybed touch is unparalleled.

Rolandfan gone all teary now...so happy the VA76 is standing up to the Tyros for once

Yamaha and Roland's top arrangers sound very different... It alls comes down to a matter of what sounds better to YOUR ear...VA76 rules my ear still

One thing i love about the VA are the male/female voices which no keyboard can top

Hey as far as I'm concerned you gave it a good try. Last I knew there are several brands out there for a reason. What is the very best arranger in the world? The one you like the best.

Ok now just for Chuckles How Much???
