Korg Styleworks from korgpa site - 10/24/05 06:27 AM
Hi All,
Well my PAX Pro arrived last week hence why I've not been here for a few days. I'm very pleased with it. It's exactly what I was expecting and I know it's going to bring a lot of pleasure.
I have a question that someone may be able to help with. The EMC styleworks software I downloaded from the korgpa.com website has expired and I can no longer use it. The korgpa website says that it's limited freeware but it seems that this is a demo version.
Have I got something wrong or did Korg misinterpret the meaning of freeware??
Any help would be appreciated as I can no longer convert the styles from my KN.
Thanks all
David.

Hi,
just taking a look at the manual you can discover that it's a "true" freeware.
:-)
Cheers.

EMC Styleworks is not freeware..It is a highly developed software that is available to purchase..There are links such as Korg's that allow the use of the demo version[also the demo versions are not complete]..
You can contact EMC directly for purchase options..

Hi again,
why not looking at the manual before making any sentence ? It's a matter of seconds ....
Tthe software in the pa official site is in demo for 4 days, but if you register you have unlimited access to this Korg LE version. It's not the full version, this is clearly stated, but it's definitely free for what it can provide (conversion of one/two different formats from other brands each to the pa80 one). And if I well remember you can buy the full version for a particular price (not sure).
Please check page 5 of the manual and everything will be cleared.
It's strange that sometimes even free and useful stuff makes people unhappy.
:-(
Cheers.

hmmm. OK that's what I was thinking. It seems from the manual that you have to register (and I presume pay for) the software but the korg website says...
"This is a (limited) custom version of Style Works 2000, EMC's renowned, award-winning style-conversion utility. It is provided as a freeware* application for Korg Pa arrangers, and includes most of the functionalities you can find in the complete package.
* Freeware: You can use the software for free."
It also says on the homepage....
"Free EMC StyleWorks 2000
A customized version of the renowned style conversion utility for your Korg keyboard — courtesy by EMC."
So hence I'm a little confused as the version that I downloaded from the Korg website is actually demoware not freeware.
Thanks for the replies guys.
David.

Hi Booby,
Sorry - we must have overlapped replies. I think I get it now. The software is free however you have to register (for free) to unlock the software.
I'll give this a try.
BTW I wasn't knocking the availability of this from EMC I was just a little confused about how to unlock the software for use after 4 days. Apologies if it came over as anything other than that.
Thanks for the help.
David.

Hi,
you have to register, right, but the registration is freeeeee!
Why all this reluctance ?
I'm not an EMC employee and my converter is running FOR FREE in my computer since several months. You have only to try.
I'm sorry, trying to help but can't find other words to explain this better.
Cheers.
