It's a weird beat. I use an 8 beat with a steady 16th on a tambourine (softly). Almost like a 16 beat pattern, but easier. I don't use any arranger though .... just piano, bass and drums. kinda like the original version.

Oops ... forgot to mention, that I play a PA80. Just adding my suggestion, because the pattern really is, rather generic.
