A G70 it is - 06/18/07 02:25 PM

After spending most of Saturday and Sunday afternoon reading the G70 manual visiting Roland related web sites and user forums I took the leap and am buying HankB's G70. Don Mason, thanks for letting me know it was up for sale.

The pressure is on. Tomorrow I list the E09 and VR760 on eBay. If I get any nibbles, I'll list the DC5 too. My local store has a G70 in the box he'll sell to me for $2500.

Good luck, Stephen.

I know where soemone can get a new G70 from a dealer REALLY cheap. He's had it for months and there is no interest in it here. He will dump it.

Re: A G70 it is - 06/18/07 04:48 PM

Thanks everyone. I'm pumped up about getting the G70 and with it's weight I better be pumped up.

76 keys, vocal harmonizer and based on my playing so many converted G70 styles on the T2..... and a list of other features, it was the way to go. I don't plan on selling my CVP 307 Clavinova, so I'll have the best of both worlds..The Clav for home use and the G70 for gigs

Don, I'd like to know the store contact and/ or price. Also, is the mike connection on the G 70 an LXR? If not, do you need to use a transformer to convert?

Thanks,

Russ

Congrats. The G70 is the way to go. I still have tons to learn on it but I have had great responds on gigs and playing gigs has been a lot more fun. It is heavy but the keyboard action is worth it. The other arrangers just didn't feel right to me being a piano player.

Don, could you post the dealer info or pm me as I am also interested. That would round out the arranger section of my studio (can't warm up to the Ketron because of the lack of smooth jazz and other contemporary styles).

Re: A G70 it is - 06/19/07 11:08 AM

The dealer is Toledo Music in Shreveport.
(318) 635-9940
I talked to them today and they still have it, but they want $2500.
If you're interested talk to Larry or Vernice.
They are good folks, but only really into pianos and organs. They don't even know how to turn the G70 on.

Seriously Fran, I haven't been to Philly in quite a few years (except for brief visits). Is Benny still alive and well. I'll always think of him fondly. A living legend in the Philly music scene.

I love my Yamaha but the G70 is starting to grow on me. the only issue i have, is i have not heard any dance styles. only the one on the Roland site called "DemoDance" which I don't really like...

Can someone post some demos of the dance doof doof trance styles with Intros and a few of the variations please?

Try you best to wooo me

Re: A G70 it is - 06/19/07 05:21 PM

Nick there are plenty of Dance styles in the Roland Style library...original & Converted...! If dance styles are what your into why noit look at creating your own using a Fanthom X7 or Motif XS?

Re: A G70 it is - 06/19/07 05:44 PM

the thing is, i realllly love Latin music aswell thats why im scared to go to a synth.

in the T2 my favorite styles are:

Bolero Lento
Beguine
Guitar Rhumba
Pop Flamenco
Bachata.
Bossa Nova

I have listened to most of the G70 latin and dance styles after being converted to Yamaha and they sound crap. but I have no doubt they will sound a million times better than on the G70 which is what they were made for. still i am extremely happy with the Yammy latin styles and feel most comfortable with them.

with the dance department, i love the sounds that the synths have but i really prefer to play in arranger mode where u can switch variations, fills, mute tracks allll in realtime.

I have never played on a synth but i am not confident it will be able to do this? synths are more for pre recording all the music pretty much like midi files and just putting loops together am I right??

I just dont like how the Yamaha has only 1 drum kit for dance. every dance song sounds quite the same cos of this. need to variate with drum samples which it cannot do... I am confident the G70 has this but also, I love the onboard patterns on the T2.

so many decisions... lol

is it possible to use a Module for the T2 that will give it all the extra drum kits and u can just select them through the T2 for the on board styles??

That's the thing with Roland...you know that there'll always be a 76-key model. Pretty reassuring, eh?

Look out, here I come! The VR760 sold last night and the DC5 has a bid by the same buyer; it ends Sunday. I've got my G70 on hold ($2500). If anyone (AJ) knows of a better deal, email me.

Wow, this is exciting. I've never done a wholesale buy/sell of keyboards before.

BTW, the E-09 is still up on eBay until Sunday if anyone wants a good, inexpensive arranger.

Cass, congratulations on the G70, Fran's right on the money, you won't be sleeping tonight

I just checked the UPS web site my G70 arrived in Secaucus NJ from Shrevport just before 12 noon today. I know the drill too, I went thru this when I purchased the T2 6 months ago. The board will arrive at the UPS depot near where I work about 10 tonight and it will sit there all weekend Monday it will arrive at my office mid day.

Donny, I sold my kb prior to moving to Laos. Luckily I get to play a Kawai organ for a couple of hours each week but that doesn't belong to me. Still better than nothing and it's great to be playing the organ once again.

Who knows? Fran knows that I'm interested in the G70, especially for its organ voices/drawbars, 76 keys, solid build, etc. If I had to choose between a Tyros 2 and a G70... G70 would be it. But I'm also interested in what the Audya will bring. I'll just wait and see and in the meantime do without a keyboard. Not easy but, like I said, playing the organ several hours a week keeps me from going nuts. Or is it already too late for me? Anyway, no purchase this year.

Just buy a G70 now......
then stack the Audya on top....
whats the problem

No trains in Laos, Donny.

Interested, yes, just ask Fran, but I'm also a patient man. Right now my focus is on getting my business established, studying the Lao language and taking care of my family.

The Kawai organ is keeping me quite happy for the time being. Like I said, not for this year.
