Question about the EXR 7s

Question about the EXR 7s - 12/27/05 08:51 PM

Just got a Roland EXR 7s. Does anyone know if I can hook up an Expression pedal. The only pedal hook-up I can do is for Sustain.
Does it not accept a connection for Expression (volume)? Oh by the way, it's an awesome keyboard for the price range. I recommend it highly.

I recently sold a G70 (too heavy) and a Yamaha PSR 3000 (no b---s). I finally found the right keyboard in the EXR 7s.

Marie, you may want to pick up an Anatek "Pocket Pedal"[long discontinued]..It has several functions made assignable thru a midi connection, for both a sustain pedal and an EV5 expression pedal..

Marie if you can't find one..I can let you borrow mine...Email me..

Unfortunately, this won't work well. These converters send out CC11 (expression) or CC7 (volume) on one midi channel at a time.

The advantage of a Footpedal input on the arranger is the OS determines which Part(s) respond to it. The weight of your G70 came with some significant advantages!

The Anatek will send on all 16 channels or selected channels..

Thank you to everyone for your responses about the EXR volume pedal hookup.

Fran, I will be looking into the Midi Pocket controllers. Don't know much about them as yet. If this works......I'd be very happy. Thanks for your offer, I might take you up on it.

UTILITY doesn't have the options for pedals, but the KEYBOARD SET page does. It has several options there for pedal adjustments, but none for Volume.

I wouldn't be so unwise to compare the G70 to the EXR 7s. It's apples & oranges, but the weight of the G70 precluded me from continuing to use it. Surprisingly, the EXR has many fine features, good price, easy transporting, and great Roland sounds and features.......all of which I'm familiar with having used Roland arrangers since the mid 90's. Ya gotta do what you gotta do!

Just a note to mention that I will be selling my G800 soon on Ebay.

Also I have Yamaha DX7 (great shape) with lots of extra style disks (cartridges) I'll be selling.

Thought I'd mention it on the Forum page first.
