Is this a bug in the SD1's Edit Pattern ? - 08/18/02 04:47 AM

Dear all
....or am I doing something wrong?
In a new pattern I recorded for arranger A (chord 1 e.g.) the following: C, E, F, G. Upon re-play the SD1 produces this:
pressing Cmaj repeats C, F, E, G correctly
pressing Gmaj (irrespective, which of the 3 ways to produce a Gmaj I press) repeats D, G, Ab, B which is not what I want. I'd like to achieve the following: if I record C, E, F, G it should re-play
Gmaj G, B, C, D
Fmaj F, A, Bb, C
Dmaj D, F#, G, A
Is this not possible to achieve?
Thanks for any help!

Hansruedi,

This is not a design flaw. Within the pattern, you have 2 modes (CLOSE: Where the SD1 determines the appropriate chord following the harmonic rules of music, and PARALLEL: Where the SD1 basically transposes the chords based on what you play). What you want to do is set the mode to PARELLEL. Is is set to CLOSE by default. This can be done within the PATTERN EDIT menu.
Thanks.

Hi AJ

Thank you for the explanation. I did see these parameters in the manual, did however not realise their functionality!
