Sending An RA-800 Drum Variation Program Change Message Via Midi..... - 11/20/03 12:10 AM

My roland RA-800's manual lists program change messages on the page
that lists the music style chart.
It list the music style the CC0 the CC32 nos.
Then it lists Program Change numbers
the list looks like this :
01: Basic/Original
09: Basic/Variation
02: Advanced/Original

etc...

I want to send these as well as the cc messages.
Please tell me if you can , how these can be used from commands in a midi file.
And.. which foot pedal will allow me to send these as well as the CC (control change) messages.

Thanks
Manny

Hi,
it's way too many years since I fiddled round with stuff like this and I've pretty much forgotten everything I ever learnt.

The way I used learn how things worked ie control changes, bank changes etc was to record a style as a midifile ( no chord changes) record the intro , then 4 bars of vari 1 then a fill, the 4 bars of vari2, then a fill etc
Then I'd study the results in my old Atari & notatator sequencer and i managed to work out how to edit the stuff . Back then there was no one to ask how things worked, unfortunately.

Hopefully someone on the forum will be able to be of more help

best wishes
Rikki
