More Details about Genesis - 01/20/02 08:14 PM

I picked up a CDROM from Generalmusic which includes some press release items on the Genesys. I hope my copying and pasting from my desktop to this post works so you can see the picture and get the specifications. Let me know if it works please.

Thanks for your excellent reports. I might suggest you upload your files to one of your Yahoo Groups and tell us which one.

Arbaz,
I sent you two emails a moment ago. First one I tried to select all three files but only one went and then I put all three files in a folder and it seems like they all were sent to you. If you can open them up please post them on this web site.

I hear the Genesis II will replace the CD-R with a DVD-R and the Genesis will make MTV-videos of your performances.

Great George, just great...... Now it looks like I'll have to work a LOT of extra hours so I can afford this new GEM board...LOL...
Seriosly though, I really like the concept of the new Genesys and what it appears to have to offer.
I recently played a GEM board at a dealer and was somewhat pleasantly surprised at some of the sounds I heard coming out of it. I had read some posts in the past that knocked the sounds on some of the older GEM boards, but the one I played sounded pretty good overall ( Don't ask me what model it was though..lol ). If the Genesys is improved on sounds, I'm gonna have to give it a serious look.

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/21/02 01:35 PM

Very Good George to post the specs

Looks quite awsome - almost an Arranger/Workstation rolled into one - without compromise.......

however, the name is confusing me a little. IS it a GENESIS, a GENYSIS a GENESYS ?? - or something else that ryhmes with the named keyboard?. If I want to look round for this keyboard, and type "Genesis" in , only to find out it was called a Genysis - then time wasted

Are you sure it didn't have "Exodus" on the Back panel! - or is that the follow up!

Oh and BTW George, does it have 64 notes poly ONLY?(read from your other post/thread) - this is OK, but with all these layers (6) you won't be long before you are running short of notes....unless that is, it handles polyphony/Audio or whatever in a total different way to the "Normal" arranger shall we say. Whatever, it sounds intersting. Thanks once again George for providing the Specs.

Hello George,

You all don't know me (except Roel de Jonge, Andrea Rotolo and Graham UK) but I've been reading most of the messages sent in this Forum for abouth 3 months now so I simply had to sign in and hop aboard!(correct English? :-))

Do you know if this keyboard also can be used like a monitor (like Yamaha PSR-8000 or 9000 is able to)?

BTW thanks for your teriffic posts on this forum!

I've been offline for a couple of weeks because my wife and I have relocated to Chicago. I just got reconnected to the Internet via DSL. I've been trying to catch up on all info regarding Genesys. Sounds like a killer machine. I am currently using a wk8 megastation so anything new from Gem interests me greatly. Thanks George for your very well done report on Genisys.

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/23/02 05:08 PM

Thanks a lot George for that information! I have found A LOT of helpful information out here on this forum and I really appreciate everyone's effort to keep each other informed!

The GENESIS keyboard is simply amazing! I cannot even remember the features that you listed - it is just packed with tons of stuff! I have never seen such a dream keyboard in my life, I am sure those who buy that will be happy with their investment! I just hope it stays in the $2,000 - $2,500 range. $4,000 is way to much money for any type of keyboard. Anyway, I really like the CD Burner and the capability of playing MP3 and audio files from the keyboard itself, along with the other features it offers. Hopefully General Music is successful with this keyboard, because I have never seen anything like it!

Well, again, thanks for that information. See you all around on the forums and Have a nice day,
Ryan

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/26/02 01:51 PM

george,

does it specify WEIGHT of the genesis in your literature?
Posted by: George Kaye

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/26/02 11:04 PM

DNJ,
there is no specification of weight or size in the press release I received. However, Chris told me it was about 5 pounds heavier than the Yamaha PSR9000.

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/26/02 11:10 PM

I tried lifting one end of the Genesis and it definitely felt 'at least' as heavy as the PSR9000. - Scott

Re: More Details about Genesis - 01/26/02 11:16 PM

That would make it approx 55 Pounds, not to heavy.
