What do ya think? - 10/06/03 08:05 PM

Hey guys, Ive been writing music for a long time, but just recently moved from mostly live playing, to at least "attempting" to record some of my stuff. The thing is, since i dont record on a piano, my stuff tends to be VERY VERY different. Live i play easy listening piano, but since im working on a Motif, ive been coerced into expirementing with electronic and ambient styles. So heres one of my tracks, ill share some more later. Be easy on me! Im still learning (im only 16 afterall)

You're right, it's different. . . but very good and very beautiful. I can see you doing a sound track for a movie. When I was 16 I was playing trumpet and computers were not even in the picture!

I was never 16. When I was borne I was 18 because we were so poor that someone had to get a job right away.

Cheers,

My goodness, I just realized that I was 16 in 1959, the year my wife was BORN.
First car that year was a 1954 Ford. It even had a radio.
The trumpet was the new, improved model that had three valves on top. I was first chair trumpet player in the Oklahoma All-state band as a sophomore, but the next two years I didn't go because of football and basketball. I think it was the year they eliminated jousting as a high school sport.

Sesom,
Very nice. I'm not into new age/electronic music, but this is very melodic. It has a very classical style. If you change the voices, to say: violin, cello, strings, I would think that it would sound like a classical piece or chamber music. Were you a clssical pianist before you moved to keyboard? Excellent work.

Hey Starkeeper, thanks for listening. No actually, im not a classical pianist. Im of the play by ear/ self taught camp. I think this has given me some unique advantages and limitations. Whatever the case, I absolutely love the piano and love technology. For me, keyboarding is the ultimate mix

Hi Sesom
Really enjoyed 'Forgiven'
When I hear the term 'experimental music' I immediately have visions of people banging dustbin lids, blowing through steel pipes and wearing sandals Whilst I am sure that this has artistic value on some levels it is not my bag.

HOWEVER (get to the point Tony ) I thought your stuff was excellent. Whilst certainly different it had a definate structure (as others have said) and the melody held me right to the end (or at least to the fade as I suspect this is a much longer peice in reality?) It definately has a classical form and in some ways puts me in mind of 'Enya' or 'Clannad' but more 'individual' than that.
Really good stuff and if you are only sixteen then I am sure you have a great future ahead of you in music.
Keep it up!
Very best to you
Tony W
