Ya know, if you'll be carrying the SD1 too, you might just get me to take the trip from upstate NY. I made it to Dover in about 4 hrs for the race a couple of weeks ago, and looking at the map and online driving directions, the trip to Catonsville seems to be about the same timewise for me. Looking forward to the trip to Md to see Dano and some cool keyboards..

Dan: WOW ! Exciting news! Congratualations on becoming an official internet (nationwide?) Technics Dealer. Was it perhaps your friendship & association with Dan Slick (head of Technics USA Sales) which helped seal the deal? I'm hoping that with your entry as a nationwide Technics KB dealer, that you'll be able to finally 'break' the overly inflated price fixing trends some US Technics dealers have been playing. I know that (at least here in California), Technics had been limiting their dealerships to only a 'single' 'piano store' only in each local CA region, which in turn allowed these dealers to more easily over inflate their prices as local competition was vitually eliminated. I'm hopeful that now with you entering the Technics retail scene (as an 'internet music dealer') that you can provide more 'mainstream' exposure to Technics arrangers (along with Ketron & Roland keyboards) here in the US. If you can offer 'low competitive' arranger KB prices, as well as the degree of helpfulness you've shown on ths forum, I'm confident your new internet KB Music Store will be a great success. Wishing you the BEST in your new adventure. I'm still very happy with my Yamaha PSR2000, but I'm still considering either the Ketron SD1, XD9, or the Technics KN7000 as a future arranger keyboard option. Hey Dan, you're the MAN ! - Scott

I'm also strongly considering an SD1 down the road ( everything I've heard done with them sounds terrific ) but I'd like to see Technics boards as well including the KN7000 when it becomes available. I liked some things about the OS of the MZ2000 a lot and if it is a KN5000 "clone" as some have suggested ,then I might like the KN boards as well. Wouldn't mind testing the VA series boards out either. I'll be sure to bring the digital cam and take some pics when I go.

Hey Scott,
I shipped my kn3000 to Holyoke, Mass and it was only 35.00 insured. I would guess the freight from Indiana to us about the same, maybe less. That sure will beat the $2,795 add on to street price from our local piano store, unless Dano uses the same pricing structure

Best to you Dano, will be in touch

Re: dano will carry ..........technics ......... - 06/25/02 11:36 PM

Last year I stopped by a piano store here that is a Technics dealer because I heard he had a KN6000 in stock and I'd never seen one. He had heard of me playing around town, so offered me a "Great Deal", $1000 off! That's $1000. off of $4995., or $3995. I told him that I thought $2,000. profit was still a little too much, and he seemed astonished that I knew approximately what he had paid for it. His price included zero extras, and there would have been sales tax on top of that. Also, he knew absolutely nothing about how it worked, what it did or even how to demonstrate it. I spent about an hour showing him how to get around it.
A few days later he phoned me and told me that there was someone else interested in it, and that if I wanted it I should come right then and pick it up. About three months later I stopped by again, just out of curiosity. It was still there, still priced at $5K. As far as I know, it probably is STILL there.
