My guess would be a "junior" model a few months or more after the Tyros II is released, kind of in the same way the 3000 replaced the 2000 / 2100 etc and incorporated some of the features of it's big brother the Tyros.

I think the 2000 was the junior to the 9000 wasn't it ? The 740 for the 8000... etc. It seems to be the pattern Yamaha has been following and my guess is that it's a strategy that works well for them.

Of course this is merely speculation on my part, based solely on what appears to be a recurring theme. I don't actually have any real knowldedge of what Yamaha has planned.

My guess is that since there are not even rumors, it will be more than just a few months.

The PSR740, PSR2000, PSR2100, and PSR3000 all came out in the summer. So I am betting on next summer.

Following a trend.....Yamaha keeps a model in production, for about 3 1/2 years to 4....it would be very expensive to change models every year...R&D, Design, marketing, etc...the same was for the Electones, and also is for the Clavinovas.
The PSR 3000 hit the stores almost a year ago, if I am not mistaking (depending of the area),in Phoenix (Az) arrived in the last half of october.
The price drop of the PSR 1500 perhaps is because is a slow seller compared to the 3000.

There were 2 years between PSR740 and PSR2000. 2 years between the PSR2000 and PSR3000. The PSR2100 came inbetween, but it was essentially the same exact keyboard as the PSR2000. So I believe that we can expect the successor to the PSR3000 to come out next summer. I would be shocked if Yamaha waited 3 full years.

The PSR3000 came out 6-8 months after the Tyros and had a lot of the same features. Hopefully, the next midlevel arranger will come out some time next year and will have many of the same voices, styles, and other features as the Tyros2.

Who knows, may be they would give us a pleasant surprise and release possibly next summer a module of the Tyros II.

That would give those of us who want to have the Tyros II with 76 or 88 keys (that is with a controller keyboard) and those of us who would not even consider spending a fortune on a new flagship arranger to be encouraged in to the Tyros II customer base and culture.

If they are worried about the cost to produce such a product, the Tyros II module does not even have to have all of the features of the keyboard version of the Tyros II. For example, they could eliminate the internet capability, they would not have to make keybeds for the module nor would they have to use all of the physical materials as they would with a full keyboard.
The good thing about this (from Yamaha’s perspective), is that if the people who don’t want the Tyros II module with reduced features, And the task of connecting it via midi to a controller keyboard, and generally not having everything on one keyboard, but like the sounds and styles, they would be more inclined the by the full version Tyros II keyboard.

The PSR3000's came in to my store in July of 2004. It has been every two years for new model introductions so I would agree that the next generation 3000 would be introduced at the next Summer NAMM show, usually in July.
