Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/11/01 11:18 AM

I'm here in Bossier City, LA, where Barksdale AFB is located, and I just saw Air Force One land. I think about the tragedies around the U.S. and I know that several of our members are in those areas.
Donny is in New Jersey, Dave in Philly, etc.
I pray that none of us or our families were directly hit by this attack, and I'm sorry that there is nothing we could possibly do to console those who were.

One thing all of us can do here in the U.S. is to give blood. I'm on my way right now. I stopped earlier but the wait was about two hours so I came home to talk to the kids about what has happened.

Stunned, when I say the news reporting the dramatic happenings of today. I hope, like everyone here, that everyone is OK. The US is so far away of me, but just want to share the thoughts about this, because this will strike the whole world. Just imagine all the people that were in the tower or around it when the planes flew in and a bit later, the building collapsed. I'm angry that something like this still happens nowadays.

I hope that we don't have to miss anyone here on this forum and my thoughts are also by family and friends of the victims.

My most sincere condolences to all. It is important to me to say a bit as I have worked with victims of hurt for 22 years on a voluntary basis - an addiction perhaps.
I have a good message for you and it is this:
Let us not in the least collude with or increase the gigantic tragedy by anyone of us getting, depressed, or angry to the point of no reason. The greatest tragedy of all is that the solutions to these issues are well known already. Love disarms and absolute love disarms absolutely. In Ireland we have had 800 years of war with England and we have not learned how to win -- the clearest most intelligent response is to love. It is my greatest wish that we not retaliate but stand in love and win. I hope I am not hurting anyone or thing Pierce in Ireland.

There are no words to describe what I saw tonight on the cnn news.
It was like a horror film.
Knowing the WTC very well personally, I immediately realised the huge chance of numerous victims. (untill now no one dare to estimate any number of possible victims, but I am afraid this will exceed anything you can imagin.)
As with all the rest I like to express my thought's to all innocent victims.

What a day this has been! A good friend of mine works on the Frazier TV show and one of the producers and his wife were on the jet that crashed into the second WTC building this morning. Life is very fragile! Who could have imagined going to work this morning how we would be sitting in front of our TV sets tonight watching this tragedy. I share in all your sentiments and pray for the families of the victims tonight.

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/11/01 08:16 PM

It's been a long day. My friend's neighbor's daughter was in building #2 when building #1 was hit. She contacted her parents by cell phone to tell them she was alright. About 15 minutes later building #2 was struck and she hasn't been heard from since.
They haven't been able to get the gas fires out to get the rescue started.About 250 ambulances are lined up on the East Side highway waiting. As many as 500 fireman and police were on the plaza and in the buildings at the time of the collapse.Right now the construction crews are also waiting to get their equipment in position to start the debris removal. No electricity in the area and most everyone south of canal street has been evacuated. The amount of damage at the site is rumored to be enough to destabilize the reinsurance industry world wide.At my hospital, 75 miles from the crash, we have been on alert since 10am.

This has been an emotionally draining day. I am feeling mixed emotions of sadness, rage, and depression. These horrific terrorist attacks have changed our lives FOREVER!

The husband of a close friend of mine was originally scheduled to be in the World Trade Center this morning, but luckily, thank GOD, his scheduled meeting got changed (just the day before) to later in the afternoon.

Here in Northern California , both downtown San Francisco & the San Francisco International Airport have been completely evacuated (a ghost town).

I will continue to pray for the families of the many victims of this act of cowardly hatred and hope the 'world community' will support us in finding and bringing to justice the perpetrators who commited this horrific act.

I wish all of you peace and I am fully aware that the strikes are not at our way of freedom they are at themselves so it will help us if we can forgive them and rise in dignity. We do not have to do anything only grieve and in due course learn to forgive because if we forgive we heal and if we dont we collude with and add to the tragedy. I spent the evening at a prayer service at a church in town. As we prayed for the rescue workers and possible survivors I was struck by how much we take for granted on a daily basis. I am so grateful for my wife and kids and the friends I have. As George was saying life is very fragile. Scripture says "weeping may endure for the night but in the morning comes joy...". For many it will be a long long night but I pray for the healing of broken lives and a new sense that we all need each other.

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/12/01 10:11 AM

Well, I was out for a two weeks holiday when I heard from the italian TV of this attack. At first I couldn't believe it really had happened. Then I realized it was sadly true and I am afraid that our prayers for a better world are bound to be disappointed. Behind this insane act there is an evil mind and this becomes apparent if you consider that by hitting the WTC towers (more than the Pentagon) this evil mind has:
1- taken a horrible toll in human lives
2- hit the United States (and the western world) in one of the strategic places of their economy
3- destroyed one of the symbols of NYC (just like destroying the Tour Eiffel in Paris or the Colosseum in Rome) and indeed a wonderful piece of contemporary architecture.
So it's evident that are at work evil forces that greatly surpass our imagination and we can only pray that those forces can and will be effectively contrasted and crashed by all the men of goodwill throughout the world.

Religion based on paranoia. It amazes me how people..?? (if you can call these idiots people) can try to justify their actions on a belief that only they hold. I'm not a religious person, am I'm not about to get into a theological discussion. I believe in life..that's it..no temple, no shrine, no burning goat, no crutch..nothing. Life is what we make of it. But I do pray, and today I pray for those lost, the families, brothers, sisters, children. And I also pray that the perpetrators, meet a fate deserving of their cowardly act. Nothing can justify these kind of atrocities. My thoughts go out to all of you.

I'm not religious (and you understand why today), but I am with all my heart with the families who have lost someone in this tragedy. 11/10/2001 will be a sad day.

I like this forum because it talk about music, keyboard, so..pleisure and joy.

Perhaps Music is the secret against war ???

On more time, I 'm vey disapointed by this act of terrorism. I hope, this act will be punished !!!

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/12/01 05:26 PM

I expect it will be punished and perhaps in 100 years time 10 planes will do similar "missions" - there is a better way. The discoveries throughout history and particularly discoveries in the past 100 years make it clear to me that there is a way to work with this type of thing. I understand the anger and I hope we use it to build a better world not a bitter one. With respect and the best clear thinking I can muster - love is intelligent. At times like these we can easily allow the hurt of the tragedy to either temporarily or permanently hide our intelligence and love. When this happens we are in colusinon with the people who caused the crashes -- we have in fact joined with them to create a bigger tragedy and we mask their guilt also. Pierce in Ireland.

While cleaning up my daw and deleting some old files (some testfiles I made when I just had my Kurzweil K 2600) I realised there was one testfile which expressed exactly my feelings today of this horror attack against innocent people.
I don't have any site where I can make it available.
Do you mind if I send it to you, so that you can put it on your site?

Hi all,

This is the first time I have been on the net since yesterday. Early in the morning we were called out to help the Feds patrol and monitor several of their numerous facilities.

A family here in Hawaii had a daughter who recently moved to NYC and worked in the WTC. Yesterday morning she overslept and never made it in to work. That is about the only good news I can muster, and I try to keep it at the top of my mind.

This is unbelievable. May God bless us all.

From Bosnia

This is not fact of politics, this is fact of humanity and inhumanity, and every normal man must be shocked by this.

This is horrible. I can't belive this happens in our modern civilised world. When I came home and have seen these awfully scenes on TV, I couldn't belive - I thought it was some horror film. I feel sorry that this is cruel reality. During the war in my country Bosnia, I also felt the hell of ruins, and my emotions are with every American.

My english language is not so good to express all my anger and sadness for these incidents. I'm deep sorry for all the victims of this non-human act. My deepest sympathy to all the families and friends who mourn these innocent people.

All the responsible persons MUST be punished anyway!

And I must say, this thing doesn't have anything with Buda, Allah, Jesus and others, this cannot have anything with religion. There is no religion that says: "kill" - all of them claims PEACE and tolerantion between humans. Acters of this inhuman act can't be good religious men, but just fanatics and unconsiderable extremists which interpret religions on their awfully way.

Let's God save our friends Americans and all good people around the world.

I am often reminded of the cases we saw in our home over the past 22 yrs, the great benefits of forgiveness to the forgiver and to the world.
I think it was an American couple who rose out ot the depths of resentment to forgiveness and worked with and for their daughters kidnapper, their daughter was murdered and they eventually tracked him down they were having a very bad time with it all and eventually they arrived at forgiveness and adopted him from prison- they now are enjoying perfect health. And have gained a Son (true story). St Paul was into horrendous attacks on humans and we managed to forgive him. If we didnt we wouldn have a St Paul. I hope we arrive at this natural state of happinesss and intelligence best wishes to all that are angered and hurt. Pierce in Ireland

I have a neghbor here in PR whos went to NY to get a job there and make a better life. Was calling to see if he was ok. since what happend there...finally yesterday got a email from him..had a sigh of releive since I've known him since I've been here...he works in Manhattan, sometimes in WTC as a zerox repairman he is...that day he was send there for a call...and as he stood ready to go there, were he works 14th floor ready to leave...he saw the plane hit and later on, the two buildings collapse...he told me if it was later on the day that this would happend...he probly would not be here today...Im still stuned and angry..I was born in NY and so was my daughter...and thats were I was brought up...to see this is like tearing part of my life away...He also attached the following to the email:

NOSTRODAMUS 1654

"In the year of the new century and nine months,
>From the sky will come a great King of Terror,
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city . . . . "

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
Two Brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures,
The great leader will succumb, the third big war will begin when
The city is burning.."

Year of the new century and nine monrths = September 2001
45 degrees = New York City …… 45 degrees north latitude
Fire = jet fuel explosions
Great New City = New York is great city of new world
Two Brothers = Twin towers of WTC
Chaos = enough said
Fortess endures = The pentagon still stands

Third big war = ?????? WW3 ??

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/13/01 03:04 PM

Yes, we should mourn, we should bury, and we should resolve this by finding and bringing the b*stards to justice, but we should also do something else -- plan for the future.

Being in the line of work I am, I have been thinking about how a repeat of this can be prevented in the future. I sometimes do this as part of my work, and a couple of things have come to me. I hope you don't mind my sharing the slightly more brutal and realistic side of my job:

1. we will need to retrofit our airliners with an access-proof pilot compartment. A solid metal wall between the pilots and cabin, with the cockpit accessible only through its own dedicated door(s) way up front.

2. two or more undercover officers on EVERY flight, dressed as passengers, one seated somewhere near the front and one near the back, equipped with LTL (Less-Than-Lethal) weapons (designed to shoot projectiles such as small beanbags, rubber bullets, wooden blocks, etc., that will not kill nor penetrate the fuselage wall -- we have this technology now, in fact I've used it already on duty).

3. an agreement worded into every airline ticket purchase denoting Implied Consent (much like drunk driving laws now, which are legal and have passed courtroom tests) specifying that when a threat arises, all able-bodied passengers SHALL ASSIST in bringing under control those who would represent that threat. If you disagree, you don't fly.

Armed with the above, and especially after an incident or two transpires wherein these adjustments turn out to have made the difference between the loss, and maintenance of, control over the aircraft, potential terrorists would have to abandon public air transport as their avenue of means and look elsewhere.

Just my 2˘, and the only way I can continue to keep my mind on the positive side of things.

NOSTRODAMUS 1654: a known false prophet but a cunning guy who after writing all of this, rearranged the words so many times, so that no one can really get what he wrote and so that it can be interpreted anyway you want.

"In the year of the new century: In the year 2000.

and nine months: September 2000. there was a nine year old infant

From the sky will come a great King of Terror: the king of thiefs came from the ceiling to steal. The infant was very scared.

The sky will burn at forty-five degrees, however: the house started burning and the temperature of the ceiling increased to 45 degrees centigrade.

Fire approaches the great new city . . . . : the house was in the new suburbs of Jerusalem.

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder: the city of Jerusalem burnt as well for it is the city of God.

Two Brothers torn apart by Chaos: the nine month old infant died leaving his brother (who was not in the house and not in the city) alone sad in chaos.

while the fortress endures: however the temple mount stayed alive.

The great leader will succumb: The great leader (pick one) will succumb to war

the third big war will begin when
The city is burning..: The lost city was a sad incident in history and drove multiple parties blaming each other and accusing each other of intentionally burning the city. ALL the armies of the world gather to fight it out.

The possibilities are limitless,

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/14/01 01:57 AM

I too think that Nostradamus' prophecies lend themselves to different interpretations, but there is no doubt that a grim future is overlooking us, at least for the next months. There are voices of an armed response against countries involved or supporting terrorists and this probably means a new conflict like the Gulf War and all the experts concur that the economy recession will last until the beginning of next year at least. In this moment talking of keyboards seems so futile, but maybe it's just a way of escape from a reality that is hard to accept. People are reacting in different ways and I have read that in USA many young people are volunteering for the Army. Maybe in times like these all the masks fall and one is faced with his/her inner truth.
Words seem so inadeguate...

Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/14/01 02:59 AM

During my 22 years keeping adolescents in our house I learned much from it. Brendan came here from a probation hostel and continuet to steal when he stole from us (small amounts) we found it hard, we were challenged by it and tried all the usual things to get him to stop, eg lectures, exhortations, recovery programmes. In desperation I asked the person who asked us to keep Brendan for help. He said there are no real consequences to his stealing, I was astonished as he had been beaten jailed etc and I said this but I was advised that these things were not consequences they were punishments !! and I was also advised that Brendan stole because he was not loved and when he was Physically beaten for stealing he knew he was not loved. So thus informed and with some further growth on my part (and my wife's part also) we continued. Some time later Brendan Took my Van (music van -- mitsubishi L300 almost new ) and crashed. I held him as he lay on the ground and I told him that he was more important to me the any piece of tin or gold. Brendan never stole again. Basically we allowed him to feel the consequences of his action and if we had punished him his attention would have been taken to the punishment. He felt the consequences and he felt loved - love is the most powerfull thing I know but it is hard to use it at times. Anger can make us love or fear. This and many more things happened in our home. Re: Is Everybody O.K.?? - 09/14/01 05:32 AM

I did medical work at the site yesterday. Rest assured that it is a very organized and well equiped operation. Whatever is need at that site is brought in without fail. Every tpe of rescue vehicle, construction machinery, generators, etc is brought in with escort like a presidential motorcade. If you would like to send supplies: particle filter masks, goggles, socks, underwear and work boots are consumed very rapidly ( send to Javit's center or the Red Cross).

Thousands of iron and construction workers are lined up around the block at the Javit's Center ready to go in. Food and water is plentiful. The closer you get to the site the more the acrid smell, the more the irritating smoke, the more the security, (police and military). The worker commaradery is so high all trying to get to any who may be alive (5 fireman and 10 police found yesterday).

The obstacles are staggering: the fires remain burning , the debris is shifting, the surrounding buildings are unstable (the concussion of the WTC collapse was equivalent to a 2.7 earthquake), the basement ot the WTC extends 6 stories underground, the dust and now mud is added to the 460,000 tons of debris on top, within this smoldering stew of debris are the ruptured and fragmented personal and biological remains of 5,000. These are lives that cover many nationalities & religions. Their loved ones congregate at Bellvue and the Armory desperate for any word, poster boards at these locations are covered with thousands of I.D. pictures.

The most moving visual at this time, besides the obvious, is that of alongside the the rescue & construction workers are the firemen who have been here from before the start. Searching for their colleagues trapped while trying to evacuate the WTC. These are New York's bravest, 300 or more of whom were lost when they fearlessly rushed into the doomed builings to do what they did best.

The next wave of emotion for all of us is going to be that of the human tragedy which will take focus at funeral and memorial services in the not to distant future. The most moving emotion now is the absolutely undefeatable New York spirit to take on full frontal whatever obstacle without hesitation.

It doesn't seem possible that a year has passed. My wife had to fly to Baton Rouge today on business on a company plane. She took off from Shreveport Downtown Airport, about 5 miles from Barksdale Air Force Base, and all flights were diverted from getting even close to Barksdale AFB. My vows for today are that we concentrate all our energies in not letting such a tragedy happen again. With action, sure, but also with deep thinking about the reasons that lead us "here".

My thoughts are with all the people that were touched by the tragedy in NY, with many other innocent people that died afterwards, but above all, with us all. I have to believe we all are the ones that can make things change in the future.
