Advanced use of SD1

Advanced use of SD1 - 10/03/01 11:55 PM

Has anyone tried to edit some configuration files on SD1?
What I mean is if it possible let's say to take a Registration file ( *.reg ) from hard disk, open it on computer and insert some system exclusive or program messages.
My idea is to use registration files to send exclusive messages to other keyboards through midi out interface.
Does anybody knows perhaps, how it would be possible to open those SD1 files and edit them, what program is needed and how is that information coded?

Luca,

Don't know if this will help, however with the new forthcoming OS, you will be able to transmit exclusive messages to other keyboards with the push of the -PAGE+ buttons. I am not aware of any software at this time that can be used to EDIT Registrations on a PC/MAC.

Hi Luca,

I don't think that it is possible to store midi commands in a registration. The registration stores information about your keyboard settings.

I've written a PC program to modify the registrations of my X1 (sorry, but I don't have a SD-1 yet). Therefore I analyzed the structure of the X1 regs. The structure is fixed, e.g. 10 bytes for the name, 1 byte for right voice, 1 byte second voice, 1 byte style,... There's no room for midi commands.

I think the SD-1 has a very similar structure.

Luka,

Just use a MIDI file. Store you system exclusive or program messages in a MIDI file. Call up the MIDI file using song play or from DEMO & HIT. Press Play and the MIDI message will go through MIDI out to other keyboards.
