PA for Arranger

Hello all,

I just ordered the Peavey Escort 2000 System for my Korg PA-80 after reading good reviews from some of you here. I was leaning towards the Fender PD-150, but after doing a search on this forum, I changed my mind. Also, this system was almost $200 cheaper than the Passport PD-150.

I'll let you guys know when I get it and play around with it but I have a question that I need to ask anyone using this system. Is it possible to add a sub woofer to this system, if needed? Does the mixer or amp needs to have a sub out to be able to add a sub?

Hello Harosha. I just bought the same system, but haven't used it out yet. I am also thinking of adding a sub. If you do, it will have to be a powered unit as the Peavey won't support any added speakers, or you could use a separate powered mixer to drive the sub. The Peavey only has 2 speaker outputs, so you will have to use the channel 5 aux outs to feed the sub. Good Luck and have fun.

You're gonna' have fun with this system, but you will probably have to add a sub to get the bottom end for playing larger venues.

Thanks guys! I bought this to replace Roland KC500 Amp, because I wanted stereo sound and light weight. So, for now this will only be used in my home for practice, but I would like to get some ideas for a good powered sub (light weight) if I decide to take it out on performances.

Any suggestions on a good powered sub?

I use mine a lot at Nursing Home shows and private parties up to 100 or so people. The bottom end is quite surprising. I would think that if a job is large enough to warrant going to the trouble of using a sub, then you would want to use a larger p.a. anyway.
However it would be simple enough to hook up a powered sub (with built-in crossover) from the Channel 5 sends, or from a seperate mixer.

I use an EV Sb121a self-powered 12" sub (300w) that is the same compact size as the EV Sx100 speakers. It does a nice job filling out the sound and really gives punch to the bass and drum sounds. It weighs about 36 lbs. and is very easy to handle. I use this in connection with my Mackie 808s powered mixer and a pair of 300i 2-waqy speakers. It too makes for a great, compact, light set-up.
